It’s all in the stockings!
Posted on March 7th, 2007 by shoesense under GeneralThere are several things that I like about John Galliano’s Fall 2007 shoes. First, it’s the oxford styling, which I always found adorable. Second, it’s the earthy colors which always go well with the fall. And thirdly, and most of all, I love the way the shoe goes with the stockings. In fact, it looks like the stockings are really a continuation and an integral part of the shoe. Without the color and texture contrast (love the ribbed look!) this shoe would border on banal. With the contrast upper, in a coordinating fall tone, voila! It’s perfect.
The only thing I’m not loving is the precipitous height–that looks like a minimum of 4 inch right there, and that’s not exactly conducive to walking. Which, you know, is a noble goal to aspire to when one is properly shod.
However, I’m going to take the idea of funky-colorful-stockings with contrast, coordinating shoes and run with it. I think if you get that right, you’re one well-clad woman. And that’s what we’re all aiming for, right?

I agree. I loved John Galliano’s collection (the clothes and the shoes and the whole shebang). That sort of 19th century style is a big lure for me, and with funky colored tights it looks great… a combination of modern and retro that works well. Sure, the heels are too high for me, but it’s a style I’ll be looking for.
