Weather is hardly spring-like outside, but a girl can dream of fair skies and cute skirts and daisy-spotted meadows, and…ok, I’m officially delirious. I guess a whole day of non-stop snow can do that to a girl. Anyway, these cute mini-wedge linen Loeffler Randall flats with patent trim and bow are both elegant and flirtatious, a combo I’m quite fond of. Available in black or tan for $295 on NeimanMarcus.com.

A few memorable shoes spotted during the just-past New York fashion week:

worn by Vanessa Minnillo in the front row at the Monique l’Huillier show

Patrick McDonald posing for the cameras

a pair of heels designed by Lela Rose for Payless

more Payless shoes at the Abaete show

a model at the Vera Wang show

shoes in the Matthew Williamson show
Overall, I’d say nothing is a total shake up, and it doesn’t look like shoe styles will be changing all that drastically heading into spring. Still plenty of chunky platform heels, still plenty of pointy toe pumps, still plenty of cork wedges.
I do have to say that I’m very pleased with the new Payless shoes. I know they’re still not about to be the pinnacle of quality construction, but the new image makeover for the chain seems to be working. I’ll be checking them out when they show up in stores in a few months.

In preparation for that ever-elusive spring (it’s coming! I know it’s coming!), how about playing today with these stylish yet understated espadrille slingback wedges from Sesto Meucci, in black, platino, or bronze? As an aside, it’s a really good and relatively comfortable brand, which I usually don’t hesitate to recommend. These easy-to-accessorize style usually goes for about $150. You can find them today for:

- $148 on 6.pm (via Amazon);
- $130-137 on Zappos (depending on the color);
- $29 on Neiman Marcus (only in AA sizes, I’m afraid).
Happy bargain hunting, shoelovers!

Three-buckle styling has been all the rage of late in terms of shoes and even belts and other accessories. These pumps below fit in the trend, but which one is the $400 pair and which one is on sale for a tenth of that price?

Can’t tell? Don’t worry, I’m here to help. The first one is the Franco Sarto ‘Reserve’ Pump, at Nordstrom for $40 (half-off), also available in black leather, black patent, gold, and crimson. The second pair are Marc Jacobs heels, about $370 on Zappos.

You’ve probably heard the buzz about Nike’s Air Force 1 sneaker. If you’re absolutely dying to have one, the luxury edition–in anaconda or crocodile skin (like the one above), complete with 18-karat-gold shoelace tips, can be yours for a paltry $2000. However, if customized sneakers are more your style, you can get one for the more affordable, but still steep, price of $275. Choose your own materials, colors, styling, etc.–if you’re in New York, apply for a spot at www.nikeid.com/255studio.
Personally, I think I’ll pass.
