This Week in Shoes

Posted by jitterbugbaby in Celebrity Shoe Style, Chanel Shoes, Christian Louboutin Shoes, This week in shoes

Here’s a roundup of this week’s shoe news items.

Chanel’s famous two-toned shoe turns 50.  Always keeping the enterprising business woman in mind, these shoes can match multiple outfits.  So smart, Coco!

Everyon’s seen shoefiti, right?  Shoes tied together with their laces hanging over power lines.  Where does that trend come from?  Well, there have been lots of ideas and theories, and they’re all discussed in this article.

How about a coy Heidi Klum posing for Arena magazine in nothing but her Louboutins.  No full exposure here, though… well, except of the shoes.

Here’s why middle-aged men wear Crocs…

and why you shouldn’t wear them in the hospital.

Diane Von Furstenberg is the queen of the wrap dress… a quick way to look casually elegant.  And now, she’s about to design a line of shoes.  She says ”I wanted to create shoes for the woman on-the-go and always on her feet” and I, for one, can’t wait to see if that’s (hopefully) going to mean some sensible heels and/or flats.

Do you worry about stinky feet?  Especially in summertime when our feet (and the rest of us) sweat more.  Well, worry no more.  Check out Shoe Pure 100.  It’s a funky little Japanese invention that dries out your shoes and looks cool while doing it.

And with that, dear readers, your friendly neighborhood Shoebloggers are off to Las Vegas for the WSA Show and The Collections at WSA, where we will be packing in the booth visits to see what all kinds of companies are coming out with for Spring/Summer 08.  We’ll be back on Wednesday with all kinds of new info and dish on all kinds of new shoes.

Friday Shoe History Corner: Flip-flops for a king

Posted by Shomore in General

Here are the ultimate status symbol flip-flops.  I can’t imagine many people would be able (or want) to wear flip flops with such heavy, ornate gold figurines attached to the strap. They must have been used on special occasions where limited movement was required.

Auction benefiting the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund

Posted by Shomore in Claudia Ciuti Shoes, General

With great pleasure, I’d like to inform you of a great auction going on at Ebay. The ‘Collections at WSA ‘ is a two week long event on Ebay where you’ll find more than a dozen of our favorite shoe and handbag designers’ wares up for auction. You’ll be excited to discover designers like Thierry Rabotin, Botkier, Taryn Rose, and Tory Burch featuring shoes and purses with bids starting at only $25.

If I were a size 8, I’d bid on these cute peep toe Claudia Ciuti wedges . I’m surprised no one has bid on them yet.

Or what about these Bettye Mueller sandals, in size 36?

And I’ve saved the best news for last. 100% of the proceeds raised from this worthy event will benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF). I was saddened to learn that, despite the technological advances and developments we’ve already made, we still lose approximately 15,000 women / year in the US alone to ovarian cancer. So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and bid on a pair of shoes (or handbag). You’ll add to your wardrobe and even better, you’ll be supporting a great cause.

Already Coveting Boots for Fall

Posted by jitterbugbaby in Boots, General

I’m not ready for the weather to cool down yet.  I’m still enjoying my summer wardrobe and the ability to sit outside at night without freezing.  But there’s nothing that gets me thinking about fall like boots, and Type Z has got a couple that are already making me create mental outfits involving corduroy and sweaters.

This is one of em: the Soul knee high boot (currently on sale… minorly… at Zappos for $211).  Perhaps its my current case of HarryPotteritis, but these boots remind me of Remus Lupin (it’s something about the color) and libraries.

And this is the other: the Ekaterina buckle boot, also minorly on sale for $225 at Zappos.  In case you can’t see it on your screen, the material that isn’t brown leather is blue suede.  How fantastic are these?  I like to think they’re a cross between Minerva McGonagall’s witchy footwear and Sirius Black’s flying motorbike boots.

Gorbachev!

Gorbachev advertises for Louis Vuitton. The world is stumped, and so am I.
