Iron Man 2 Premiere Shoes

posted by: HerberWellss in Armani Shoes, Celebrity Shoe Style, General

The Iron Man 2 world premiere in Hollywood brought out several stars.  I can’t wait to see the movie.  I have a thing for Robert Downey Jr.  Gweneth Paltrow always wears interesting outfits.  I find Scarlet Johansson interesting too.   Let’s see who wore what.

Scarlet wearing Armani Prive.  The dress.  I think this was a good choice for her.

The shoes.  Love every part of them.  Don’t love the self tanner.

Gweneth Paltrow wearing Georgio Armani.  The outfit.

The shoes are Gianvito Rossi Sandals.   They are nice, but  not as distinctive as other things she has worn.

She did wear a beautiful pair of ear rings that I wouldn’t mind having in my collection.

Come to think of it, so did Scarlet.

Susan and Robert Downey did a matching thing.  Both wore black and red. Cute in a prom-ish sort of way.

Here are a few other outfits and shoes that were nice, but I didn’t have the patience to search the designers.  I must be getting old because I have no idea who half these actresses are.

Leslie Bibb and Sam Rockwell.

Leslie’s shiny gold metalic platform peeptoes.

Helena Mattsson about to unleash the girls in blue satin.  I hope she didn’t wave to anyone.

Helena’s shoes. More shiny metalic.

Michelle Monaghan in Derek Lam

The Lam shoes.  They are right off the catwalk.

Olivia Munn in Herve Leger

Her shoes.  Nice pewter color.

There are a few things that I notice in these photos.  1) Metallic is not going away this season, 2)Neither are peeptoes.   3) Gwyneth sure has long legs.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Gianvito Rossi Shoes at the Iron Man 2 Premiere

posted by: fred in Celebrity Shoe Style

I’ve been following shoe designer Gianvito Rossi with much interest.  He’s the son of Sergio Rossi so you know that fashion and shoes are in his DNA.   And the ultimate stamp of approval?  Vogue recently declared that he has the “shoes you’ll want come spring.” Vogue, I totally agree with your statement.  I mean who doesn’t find this shoe beautiful and appealing?

So I was a bit disappointed that one of the first celebrities seen wearing Gianvito Rossi was Gwyneth Paltrow.  See, I think she’s the perfect type of woman to wear the shoes but it’s her outfit which was a let down.  Gwyneth Paltrow wore a white jacket, white shorts, and these black Gianvito Rossi sandals to the premiere of Iron Man 2.   The shoes are beautiful but not when it’s paired with a white suit.  There’s a bit too much color contrast going on for me plus there is a mismatch in styles.  The suit is elegant and pure, the shoes are edgy.

What do you think – did Gwyneth do the shoes justice?

Flip Flops

We all have said disparaging things about flip flops.  When R5daughter was in 8th grade she wore nothing BUT flip flops.  (She tried to wear then in London in February – something we still tease her about.)  She is now enlightened and wears them more appropriately.  Like it or not, the flip flop is here to stay.  Here are some new events related to flip flops.

Havaiana’s has designed a limited edition world cup series of flip flops that commemorate the 2010 FIFA series that starts in June.   Since Havaiana’s are from Brasil,  this makes sense.  I was looking at them, and wondering which of the 17  team I would purchase.   They are available exclusively at Us.havaianas.com for $24.

Jamie Kreitman is expanding her flip-flop line for the summer.  She is  introducing the Cleo  $76, available in black and coffee.

Kreitman’s Spring ’10 Champagne Wishes collection draws inspiration from vintage jewelry. Each flip-flop is embellished with a unique brooch and will sell for $55 to $65.   Here is a link to JK boutiques.

Family Jewels $63 at Jamie Kreitman.com

Grazie is introducing its first season of flip-flops. The young  label, launched in February, offers 15 styles for summer.  They offer colors such as plum, jade and pewter with materials of faux crocodile, snakeskin and printed calf hair.

Grazie Vicenza $48 at Collections

Flip Flops….I feel a rant coming on.  I just went to the wedding of a silly 18 year old, who had a silly 36 year old mother.  The bride wore these:

The mother of the bride wore these:

It was not a beach wedding.  It was at a country church where the nearest beach is a 350 miles away.  WHY would a bride want to wear flip flops for her wedding shoes???!!!  Ugh. There are so many pretty shoes available.  Sparkle flips as wedding shoes are not original, not pretty, not funny.   The mother of the bride also wore those wax lips that you get at dime stores. She considers herself quite the jokester.

Here’s the thing.   While a wedding is a festive event, it is also something that should be taken very seriously.  So these stupid touches just cheapened the seriousness the wedding should have had.   <shudder>  I am glad I got that out of my system.

Lanvin’s Charm Anklet Pumps

posted by: freePOrnaoa in General

I was at Bergdorf recently and spied these sexy Lanvin ankle strap chain pumps. The quilted chain-anklet pump is $1,183 and kind of seems like an homage to the MJ Stam bag or a Chanel purse, n’est-ce pas?

The beige pump is my personal favorite and is $1075.

I don’t love these ubergold ones, but paired with an elegant Lanvin dress? Olympic fashion gold. $1009.

But then comes – THE COUP DE COEUR – The Metallic Python Platform Pump, $1735. Gorge! Especially love the cool stiletto! Major style points, Senor Elbaz, for giving the green light to this one!

Can’t wait to see what Lanvin has up its sleeves next. I’ve been loving everything the past couple years, especially the shoes and elegant dresses.

Sanuk: The Tube Flop

Yesterday, we peeked at Skecher’s version of the Fitflop.

Today, we are looking at the legwarmer/sock/sandal/boot hybrid from Sanuk.

May I present the tube flop:

Sanuk ‘Tube Flops’ $29.95 in multiple colors at Zappos.com as well as various surf shops.

Wearing socks and sandals used to be an absolute fashion faux pas; now, it’s a chic statement! Introducing the bold, the bright, the anything-but-boring… The Tube Flop from Sanük™! (via product description @ Zappos.com)

My reaction? A somewhat querulous, “Um, okay?!?”

………… I think these have temporarily stunned me at a deep, biological level – consequently shutting down various essential bodily processes.

Then there’s Hubby’s reaction, “Oh, hell no! If I saw somebody wearing these, words would definitely need to be spoken.”

These are either pure genius or the unholy stepchild of all fashion faux pas -  Possibly both; simultaneously.

And why do I suddenly feel like these could – quite successfully – appear on the next Suicide Girls tour?

My brain hurts now.
