Givenchy Stocking Ankle Boots

Quite a few Fall 2010 runways featured the below-the-knee socks trend that was worn under booties. Of the shoes seen on the runway, I’m fascinated by the Givenchy Stocking Ankle Boot because the stocking is included with the boot. On one hand, I love this idea – no need to worry about accessorizing with the right pair of socks. Givenchy has already taken care of this for you. Conversely, I wonder if I’d have to wear a sock under the Givenchy sock boot to keep my toes dry. Also what happens if Givenchy’s sock gets dirty? It doesn’t seem like I would be able to (more…)
Phillip Lim Dee Dee Ankle Boot

The ‘Dee Dee’ Boot by Phillip Lim ($875 at Nordstroms) bares a strange association to a kilt with its four tiered grommet leather skirt to me. But it wasn’t the look of this shoe that really caught my attention. It was the material of the shoe, which is made of kangaroo!!!
As a Winnie the Pooh fan, the thought of killing off a sweet Kanga or Baby Roo to make this shoe makes Phillip Lim’s Dee Dee a deal breaker. I’m being hypocritical because cow hide is okay, but perhaps I’m just desensitized because I eat beef and love my leather purses.
What about you? Would you wear a shoe made of kangaroo leather?

Now THAT is what I am talking about — a sole that can flex. And looks pretty. Welcome to the tropical shoe island of Fidji.
I found these beauties at the FFANY shoe expo, and as a lover of Anyi Lu and Chie Mihara, they were right up my alley.
To purchase Fidji, go to Nordstrom. The models in these photos may not be out until spring, if they get produced. (more…)
Shoes for Small Feet at the Petite Feet Sample Sale
posted by: freePOrnaoa in General
Because I’m an 8.5, I don’t think much about the travails of trying to find shoes at Size 5 or 6. M1ssKorea, a rather amusing poster on YouTube who can talk about shoes and fashion for hours, has an old post about the Petite Feet Sample Sale (it’s quite long, but you can skip around to see the sale at the beginning and the shoes she bought near the end).
Have any of you ever shopped at this Ontario shoe sale for smaller feet? And if not, where do you petite feeters find your smaller shoes? Sharing with our readers in the comments may help them find their own petite shoes. Certain stores online or bricks and mortar? Do share.
Marc Jacobs Fall 2010 Boots

I like my boots cute, sassy, and wearable. Sky-high, stiletto, knee boots may be sexy as hell, but they are just too impractical for the wet, windy, and occasionally icy conditions that fall and winter bring into the life of a gal living in the Pacific Northwest.
So, now I must give a big “Thank you” to Marc Jacobs for apparently reading both my heart and mind - because this year’s fall boots are right down my alley. I just hope I can find a way to finagle at least one of them into my budget and, by extension, my closet.
Marc by Marc Jacobs fold-over suede and leather lace-up ankle boots $395 at Saks.com.
