Fast Flats Saved the Day
posted by: HerberWellss in General, Shoe Product Reviews
I hadn’t done ANY Christmas shopping, so I dragged my buddy to the mall yesterday to do some power shopping. I was an idiot and wore these darling 4 inch boots. By the time we were finished I was crippled. I tossed someone off her Hover-Round took off in a bolt of controlled electricity. Well, not really. But I did fantasize a bit.
On the way home I had to go to the grocery store, but couldn’t face those heels, so I went into the store wearing just my socks. It was embarrassing, but there you are. I went straight to the foot care section and picked up a pair of Dr. Scholls Fast Flats. They are flimsy. They are dorky looking. They served their purpose.
They come in group sizes, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10. They tell you it comes with a stylish wristlet, but that is stretching it. It is anything but stylish. Anyways, they saved the day For $5.00 I was able to finish grocery shopping with my feet covered in more than just socks. (Shudder)
They will be stored my car console for the next time I try to walk a couple of miles in 4 inch heels.
Stocking Stuffer: Tory Burch Long Charm Necklace
posted by: fred in General
It’s confession time. How many of you have finished your holiday shopping this year? I know it’s down to the wire and while I am almost done with my shopping list, I’ve been a bit naughty and haven’t finished it completely. I could brave the crowds but I have two tots which makes retail shopping difficult. Thankfully, there is still time to get those presents under the tree (or in the stocking) if you order by tomorrow (12/21) at Nordstroms with two day shipping.
I’ve been eyeballing this Tory Burch Long Charm Necklace for my cousin. It’s $195 at Nordstroms, so a little more than I’d like to spend on a stocking stuffer, but it is made out of 16k gold. Plus, it’s a cute accessory for the purse and shoe lover.
And for those who are big time procrastinators or extremely busy, Zappos is offering a special gift of free and guaranteed pre-Xmas delivery if you order by Friday 12/23. Now, even though you still have 3 days to shop at Zappos, I think it’s best to get a move on before it’s too late.
The Perfect Black Pump

Finding the perfect black pump is like finding the perfect black dress. Great in theory, but difficult in practice. My perfect black pump would have a 1/2 inch platform, smooth leather, a 3 inch heel, an almond toe and, at most, a $200-300 price tag. I don’t want any annoying spikes or studs. I have had my fill of them. Enough is enough. Christian Louboutin has a great basic pump, as does Gucci and Valentino but those are simply out of my price range.
These Platswoons by Stuart Weitzman are gorgeous, I own them in Red Quasar. They are a little high in the heel at 4 inches but a 1/2 inch platform makes it 3.5 and at $300 they are a little high in my price range. In truth, I have these in my shopping cart. I may end up purchasing them later on this month. We’ll see.

The Charles David Piza on sale at $175 are a good choice, but they don’t have the platform needed for stability AND much time in a 4 inch heel is paralyzing.
Some of our readers have posted their shoes and it is wonderful to see what shapes you are attracted to.
So tell, what do your perfect black pumps look like?
Spot the Shoe Monday

Business took me to Boston a few weeks ago, and I had dinner with a friend who lives in the area. She said the best investment she ever made was a pair of good rain boots. While we were in Boston it rained. Can you believe it.
Then the sun came out for the weekend and everything was right with the world. Boston’s residents love their sunshine, parks and weekends. People and dogs were everywhere. It was fun seeing such a wonderful city in both rain and sunshine.
Today’s Spot the Shoe is a rain boot that will keep your feet dry while you walk through the slush. Then you can say mean things about me because you know I will probably be wearing flip flops. Probably not, I am just saying that to brag about the weather.
Sorel’s Sorellington rain boot.

If you have been holding out for a designer shoe to go on sale, now may be the time to purchase it. Currently luxury department stores are hosting a designer sale. Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman, and Nordstrom all have their designer items on sale up to 40% off. The average discount is about 30% off. Here are a few of my favorites.
