A Shoe Good Enough to Eat

Sundays are the day for produce pickups if you have a farm share. Last summer, I had a share in a CSA (Community-Supported Agriculture) and regularly brought home organic vegetables from the farm delivery to our local park. I worked at a florist as a teenager and have always liked arranging living things, so I decided to be silly and make veggie collages with our CSA share. It mostly resulted in silly “minimalist” things like this pinwheel and smiley face instead of anything beautiful and graceful.
So how in god’s name did this man make a shoe out of a mere leek???
“Botanic couture is the ephemeral result when Danish still-life photographer Heilman transforms vegetables and flowers into fantasy footwear. Here, every part of the lowly leek was used to craft this bulb-toed pump.”
However he did it, I love it. Inspiration for design can come from anywhere and I would buy these shoes if they would a, hold up, and b, not make my feet smell like leeks!
Heilman’s work makes me want to craft shoes from other things. Of course there are shoe cakes, but what about an entire meal made out of shoes, from the first course to the last? A shoe aperitif, appetizer, mains and dessert would be hysterical and amazing.
I might commission this culinary artist who makes adorable bento to make me shoe bento.

Entire meal made to look like shoes? Someone with enough money to build a restaurant might steal that idea.
