A tiny reason to rejoice for Croc-haters
Posted on January 9th, 2008 by shoesense under GeneralApparently Crocs are having some problems penetrating the European market. More specifically, they couldn’t get the European Union to grant their patent for Crocs’ Beach model shoes. The Europeans thought that the shoes “lack individual character” compared to other similar brands’ styles.
“Lack individual character” indeed! Not to mention style, safety, and yes, I’ll say it, practicality. How can you be a devotee of shoes that are only appropriate for gardening? Sheesh.

wow……with endorsements from u.s. ergonomics, and the american diabetes assc. along with countless recommendations from docs and chiropractors, this is your response? have you actually tried a pair on? are you also aware that they make over 130 styles? the shoes are way way way beyond gardening. also shame on closed scoped “shoesense” for not doing their home work. i would like to point out the “you” line, also “shoesense” has appeared not to have done their homework.

tiredmind,
1.) This article is over a year old, Crocs have expanded their line significantly since then - perhaps they have listened to people like Shoesense?
2.) Crocs are comfy - but not very aesthetic. This is a simple fact.
3.) This is a shoe site who’s readers are primarily focused on fashion footwear, articles may reflect this prejudice.
4.) There is at least one more recent crocs article on this site (I wrote it, so I’m familiar with it’s content). That article is titled ‘Crocs, Really?’ and shows many of the more current fashion styles that Crocs has started to offer.
5.) Why so judgemental?…People are bound to have different opinions - particularly on clothing and fashion. Shoesense’s choices are uniquely hers, as are all of our own style choices.
6.) What is wrong with wanting both comfort and beauty? It shouldn’t have to be a choice of one or the other.
Check out this article here and tell me we haven’t represented diverse opinions on Crocs here at shoeblog. Many writers = many opinions: http://www.shoeblog.com/blog/crocs-really/
