Alexander McQueen: Magic on Heels
Posted on October 6th, 2007 by shoesense under Alexander McQueen Shoes, Fashion Week, High heelsHow else would you call this ethereal creation, so darling and OTT I’m almost tempted to go right now and pin silk pink butterflies to the straps of my gladiator sandals?

These are sandals fit for Titania, no?
On the other hand, it wouldn’t be Alexander McQueen if it weren’t completely, outrageously, deliciously crazy, as in these geta- (or perhaps chopine)-inspired stilts:

You may shake your head in disbelief, but these would come in handy come those tap dance classes! But seriously: a part of me finds them daring and inspired and charged with all kinds of good, stylish energy.
Still–if you find them a little hard to coordinate with your office attire, perhaps you’ll find these square-metal-toed pumps better suited for regular wear:

They are fierce! The effect on the catwalk was rather cool–the models looked like they were floating en-shiny-pointe:

Everybody seems to be doing the crazy lacy mini-socks with shoes these days; I’m not completely sold on the style, but maybe that’s because I’m not completely used to the idea. Just give me some time, I’ll probably come around…

I agree - the butterfly gladiators are truly magic, and the square-toe pumps are going to show up in knockoffs in about 25 minutes, if not less.
BTW, as I understand it, getas have 2 posts, chopines only a single one - so those are geta-sourced.

Yes, the 2-post thing threw me off, too; however, the getas are flat and not nearly as high; and sometimes chopines (which are often on an “incline”) have two posts–see the picture here: http://www.vannacalzature.it/Storia_italiano/europei6.htm. Either way–fabulously wacky!

Metal toes! - on an already substantial solid hidden platform? - and with a rather thin and piercing stiletto too! (for administering the coup de grace?)
Most males are generally conscious of the fact that two rather delicate parts of their anatomy are on the outside of their body in a rather vulnerable position. This makes us subconsciously scan for dangerous threats to them. However some of us are more aware of this than others and it seems to me that those metal tipped square toed stilettos have been designed with just such a purpose in mind. A lady wearing those could be a ‘ball-breaker’ indeed!
This by the way makes them uber-sexy! A lady who so threatens is a challenge!

The high-heeled ‘chopines’ are actually more similar to Turkish women’s wooden bath-house sandals/clogs that were worn in antiquity.

Hi: Wonder if u can help me with this. I saw on a magazine talking about Jean Paul Gaultier. Featured in that article is a pair of black boots with strips with MANY HEELS. Like instead of one standard heel like any high heel boots, this pair has like 5 heels in total. That image got stuck in my head but I cannot find that picture on the net, wonder if you might have seen it.. I can draw it if u need a rough visual. Thanks for your time XD
