Alexander McQueen Skull Sandals

posted by: Shomore in Alexander McQueen Shoes on July 1st, 2010

First looks can be quite deceiving.  Looking at the side view of these silver studded Alexander McQueen sandals, what would you have guessed would appear on the front side?  I must admit that the skull design cutout, which a signature look for Alexander McQueen, was quite unexpected.

The Alexander McQueen Studded Skull Sandal has been marked down a second time at the official Alexander McQueen website to a sale price of $319.

Alright Suzanne, I'm gonna have to take your word for it that they are more appealing in person. I, however, will NEVER get those practical, mid-height, librarian heels…..blech! I'm super teensy weency, therefore I require a MINIMUM 5 inch heel but my comfort zone is 6 inches and up!

Oh, I’d wear those. I’m not that Goth kind in any way but those are cool.

There's also a simpler version with that multi-colored leather finish that looks kind of like oil slick rainbows. That version is kind of trippy & fun.

Valentina, the photographs don't do them justice. In person they're actually quite lovely. They actually sparkle more, and are anything but generic looking due to the detailing. Unfortunately none of this is showing up in the photographs. I'm a heel lover as well, and don't usually bother with anything lower than 4 inches plus a platform but what struck me with these was the dainty heel juxtaposed with the skull design and studding. As Shomore pointed out, its not what you expect to see. And therein lies their simple beauty!

Oh dear Alexander, not even the cutout skull detail on these sandals can save them from being just plain generic. I wouldn't look twice at these as they look like something you would just toss into your shopping cart at Target. And again with the modest heel? I have scaled fences in heels higher than this!

I love the skulls. It's the never-quite-a-goth part of my that loves Halloween & slightly creepy things. But goth felt too much like a costume to be 'me'. These sandals, however. Me likey.
