Alexander McQueen’s Floral Stiletto Pump

posted by: brianka in Alexander McQueen Shoes, General, High heels, Platforms, Pumps, Spring 2011 Shoes, Zappos on March 30th, 2011

The Alexander McQueen label continues to produce elegant, edgy, and occasionally, over-the-top shoes.

The prior McQueen shoes we have seen this spring have been firmly in the over-the-top category; what better descriptive comes to mind when looking at these gilt-adorned wedges?

However, the same basic, flowing, lines  we saw on the McQueen sculptural wedges have been reduced to the bare essentials to produce a darkly-elegant court shoe:

These are, in a word: Lovely.

They are the spiritual, goth, cousin to Prada’s 2007/08′s flowered stiletto heel … which are, incidentally, among my own most-prized shoe acquisitions to date (And a lucky thing, too. Back then I thought $600 was outrageous for a designer shoe.  My, how things change).

And, while the $1675 price tag on these is a bit more than I have currently allowed myself to spend on any individual shoe purchase, it is a distinctly more affordable option for those who may be  in the market for a 2011 McQueen shoe under the $3k+ price tag we’ve seen on related styles this year.

Nieman Marcus has it in a white satin version, too. http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/prod.jh

They are calling the heel "Karma Metal" – whatever the heck that means.

R5 – Are they the ones linked after the jump? Those had either a pink/green or all-green floral/leaf molded heel. If so, I have a Maryjane & Slide in that style! (And together, they are less than the price of this one pair, sigh – don't think I'll ever stop complaining about high-end shoes prices increasing by 300%)

These make me think of a Prada(I think) pump from years ago. The flower was painted pink. This is a beautiful shoe.

Loving the way the heel gets slightly larger towards the bottom,

Wonder what the flower petals are made of?

Unfortunately the description on the item link is unclear. I'd guess it to be some sort of molded resin formed around a typical metal stiletto form, that is just based on similar shapes I have encountered over the last 5 years or so..It would be interesting to see these in person to confirm that.

I think Iike them because they are not really on-trend at all. The big trend right now in color is toward nude, tan/beige, mocha & browns … which is nice as a basic few pieces in your shoe collection. But EVERYTHING I'm seeing right now is one of these colors. I want black/silver/gold/color – Drama!
