Alexander Wang ‘Freja’ knee-high lace up boot $1095 at Saks.com & Shopbop.com
I’ve been having a bit of a crush-fest on shoe offerings from Alexander Wang this year. Let’s face it, Alexander Wang is one of those fashion houses that loves designing shoes and does them right.
These ‘Freja’ boots are a perfect example. A cool-weather variation on the ankle-boot of the same name from the Alexander Wang spring line, this taller boot may, in fact, be even sexier than the original (sold out) bootie*.
*The heeled version; apparently I wasn’t the only one underwhelmed by the ‘Mirte’ flats since those are still available at a handful of retailers including LaGarconne and YouHeShe.
My preference for knee-high boots may be at play here. Ankle boots are cute, but knee-high boots are so insanely loaded with sex appeal as to blow most ankle boots right out of the water.
Of course, the fact is that I live in an area that gets winter ice and snow and then pops up into the 90′s in the summers. So it is, sadly, not worth it for me to try to do the budgetary gymnastics involved to even try to acquire a shoe that could only be worn 2 weeks out of the year.
Which, I suppose is one way to avoid denting my budget….since I’ve sworn off the Saks card as being just too dangerous a habit to indulge right now.
Oh, and if you are one of the people who liked the Mirte bootie, there is a fall variation available for these as well. They are really NOT working for me, but your mileage might vary.
Alexander Wang ‘Mirte’ lace up sock boot $925 at Shopbop.
I can’t help it, without the heel, this boot makes my brain sad.

I tried onthe bootie this summer and walked on them. They were loaded with sex appeal but very uncomfortable to walk in. The full weight was on the ball of the foot. Not worth the $750 CAD Holt Renfrew was asking. The tall version looks yummy but is no where near my budget.

The first pair, meh, they're okay, I guess. The rest of them…BLECH! Not on my dead body!

The tall boot is sexy, but looks very complicated. The sock boot forced me to look away. Ugh.

The stripes are fantastic, but good luck finding a pair.

I like the striped bootie the most! Fab! And I bet it's more versatile than you'd think.
I hate the tall version though, and that last boot is just dreadful.
