Anastasia Radevich: High Heels & Ice Dancing
posted by: designer in Trend Alert on January 4th, 2011
I don’t think it’s too much for me to say that I am honored to be the one to introduce y’all to Anastasia Radevich’s Kinetik 2011 Collection. I don’t think I’ve ever fallen in love with an entire collection before, but I can safely say that there is not a single shoe in this one that I do not love. And if I wax a little poetic because of that infatuation, I hope you’ll forgive me — and maybe come along with me for the ride as well.
The shoes in the Kinetik are not just shoes. They are many things, but they are not just shoes. They are, in the first place, like ice skates for every day. I am so not kidding. Looking at this starry blue ankle boots, for instance, makes me feel that I could actually achieve my dream of being as fabulous, pretty, and graceful as Johnny Weir — or at least skate next to him — which is really saying something, because I can’t ice skate. These are ice dancing little masterpieces, with the sensual yet somehow dangerous curves of the heel as lethal as those silver blades. The platforms could cut through more than just ice; the sinuous stilettos could puncture more than just a frozen over lake.
The shoes in the Kinetik 2011 are lethal weapons. I am still not kidding. Each heel a blade, a bludgeon, a killer look with killer appeal. These shoes are so darkly decadent that to call them innovative would be an insult. They make every woman a superhero. We are all Catwoman. It’s no longer V for Vendetta, it’s V for Violence and red lips and sensual steps with a hip led prowl.
Just take a look at some of the other shoes in the collection:
What kind of woman do you want to be?

So, maybe more art than shoe? Well, it certainly qualified as 3D art. Maybe (like some MqQueen), these could be on display under glass. They definitely demand to be on display somewhere.

I'm absolutely in love with this line… really, it looks like a collection of masterpieces. However, I'm wondering about the stability of the heel… it looks pretty feeble.

The blue "print" on the ankle boot and pump isn't even a print – It's a blue LED with optic fibers under mesh, so these shoes will literally glow in the dark!
