Anna Paquin at the 2010 Golden Globe Awards
Posted on January 19th, 2010 by Shomore under Celebrity Shoe Style, Stella McCartney ShoesAnna Paquin walked the 2010 Golden Globe Awards in head to toe Stella McCartney. Love the Stella McCartney dress. Love the Stella McCartney shoes. Hated that they were worn together. I can imagine Stacy London from What Not to Wear shaking her head and telling Anna that she should only have one standout piece. In Anna’s case, I would have preferred if she had gone with an champagne colored shoe. The dress and her hunky co-star fiance who is holding the umbrella is all the eye candy that she needs.
Do you think the shoes were wrong for the outfit?

So wrong for that dress. Think how much more beautiful it would have been with those satiny orange shoes Amy Adams wore. In-your-face black shoes–uh uh.

The shoes look wrong. The black is too much for that dress.

Thank you for posting this. I saw the pic on the net and thought why does she have on black shoes? But you really couldn’t see how bad the shoes were. They completely ruin the dress.

love the dress, love the shoes… the combination is definitely a question mark but i don’t hate it. i did raise an eyebrow in the beginning but it’s growing on me.

ugh. not cute. the shoe just makes the whole thing look…clunky. the issue is the dress already look heavy with all the metallics plus the length and the mermaid shape. you need to “lighten” it with a strappy heel. it could even been a sparkly strappy heel. in general i do agree with your words of wisdom — that only one standout piece per outfit. occasionally, i think people can pull of something more (case in point…camille bell at a recent event http://fashionindie.com/moment-of-style-camilla-belle/attachment/59304627/).
