Balenciaga Button Ballet Flats

I am a sucker for Balenciaga shoes. I am, in fact, a sucker for pretty much any of the label’s shoes – including ballet flats! What do you know? It’s my second pair in as many days, but I can’t help it. Balenciaga’s Button Ballet Flats ($545 at Barneys) are so adorable, I can’t help yearning for a pair. Part of the fact is that they are available in the lavender color you see here, and I love lavender – along with just about any other shade of purple you can possibly imagine. Of course, it’s available in black and a lovely dark green as well, but for now, let’s stick to purple!
Purple – in all its shades and incarnates, no less – is a hot, hot color this winter season, so you really can’t go wrong with lavender. And these flats look like they offer a bit more support than many of their compatriots. You can tell by the silhouette and by the way the back of the heel is on a rise.
Naturally, Balenciaga’s flats have the standard dainty round tone, the better to help you look like a ballerina en pointe. The leather is lizard stamped for a little innovation. The pattern is subtle and all the more original for its subtlety. The trim is perforated, but the holes aren’t open, so you won’t have to suffer from any cold drafts. The button detailing adds to the shoe’s stylishness – I think button trim is always a little iffy, but this definitely works.
How do you feel about purple shoes? Do you feel like the color is a bit too much or are you happy that it’s such an in shade this winter, as well?

They are gorgeous. Are they true to size? Or do you suggest to go q1/2 size up ?

I, too, am obsessed with all things Balenciaga. I just ordered these flats in black and I can't wait for them to arrive!
