Baring Your Sole On Your Bag?

I was strolling down Grand Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn when I saw these crazy contraptions.

That above is the A’N'D Brogue Zip Heel Tote Bag, retailing for £210.00. Then there’s the Flat Heel Turn Lock Tote Bag for £197.00, which also comes in a somewhat disconcerting saddle shoes black and white cowgirl look:

The funniest, however, is the shoe-comme-clutch. Products, after all, are all about how you conceptualize them. Visualize it as a bag rather than one shoe you had leftover from a rushed moving/packing situation and sewed a random pocket in. Or just fill your nearest favorite shoe up with your belongings and run, “clutching” it by the outsole. PS, it’s £165, if that helps you make a decision…

These bags can be purchased online at the website of Central St. Martins creative couple Azumi and David. While I’m not sure they’re my strike of the heel, I do think it’s think-outside-the-box exciting to be able to view a shoe this way. If shoes are mostly decorative and not functional anyways, what’s wrong with them being decorative on bags? If we have shoe necklaces, shoe belts, shoe brooches and so forth, what about shoe bags? (I’m just arguing philosophically here, since I love a good challenge of fashion philosophy).

I have one other thing to say for these bags and it’s that they wouldn’t get as dirty when you set them down on the subway floor on a crowded rush hour train where you can’t even keep your bag on your shoulder.

Have these bags got split personality disorder? What do you think? Would you express your shoe mania so literally in a bag? Or is it too much to wear your heart on your sleeve and your shoe on your bag’s sole?

i don’t like. It’s great to be unique and innovative, but if you carry around that boot clutch, you know people are going to be wondering about just how sanitary you are. Imagine, this scene. You are at a party, your bff wants to reapply her lipgloss, which you pull out of your shoe-bag. No thank you, she says. And backs away…far away.

Ok I am really justified in using the acronym LOL because you are cracking me up, t to the toes. And r5, those purse hats gave us all a good laugh, didn't they? I wonder what designers will come up with next to take the functionality out of something, sneakers as 5" platform heels? oh wait…..

The Isaac Mizrahi purse hat comes to mind. These guys are trying a little too hard to be edgy or unique.
