If any of you are around little girls, you know Fancy Nancy.  We have a book where she goes to a Butterfly Pavillion.  In it she greets butterflies with bon jour,  because they are so elegant, and French is the most elegant language she knows.  This week R5granddaughter and I went to the Phoenix Botanical Garden’s butterfly display.  We learned all sorts of things, like butterflies taste with their feet.  They also get their vitamins and minerals through their feet when they land on the ground.   Butterfly feet are also shaped like pretty shoes, platform sandals with peep toes.   OK, I made that last part up.  Even so, we had a fun day.  We greeted each butterfly in French, but they must have been American because they didn’t answer back.

After the botanical garden we went to Nordstroms, which really spoke my language.   We saw a few cuffed sandals with butterfly shaped cut-outs.  Here are some butterfly and floral themed shoes.

Rainbow Butterfly Shoes $63 by Keds

Seychelles Tippy Toes $100 at Nordstroms

Tracy Reese Bolero $295 at Nordstroms  These are my current crush.  I included these because the webbing makes me think of the patterns in butterfly wings.  If they were available in plum ( menopause purple), I would have them in my closet as we speak.

Seychelles Joan $95 at Piperline

Born Hydrangea $130 at Zappos  Born has a ton of floral embellished sandals.  They are super comfortable, and super cute.  I have a pair of these shoes in silver.  I wear them all the time.

See the butterfly in the left corner? Same colors.  Monticello Shoes Rembrandt on sale $77

If there is a butterfly pavillion near you, I would encourage you to visit.  We really enjoyed our time at our display.

Today is Fancy Nancy storytime at Borders bookstore. We, however, will be at soccer games & will miss the 11 am start time.

And I still love the Seychelles sandal. I mentally refer to all of those lace-front with cutout styles (there was a similar Marc Jacobs sandal last summer) as 'Butterfly Shoes'.
