Bottega Veneta Suede Flat: Parting is such sweet sorrow

On the surface, these Bottega Veneta flats were perfect. Timeless flats with Bottega’s intrecciato weave suede detailing? Check. On sale at DSW.com for $150, compared to the retail price of $580, after coupons. Price, super check. Size 37 available, check. Wider toe box, check. Not too high? Flats, so check.
When they arrived and I felt the soft leather and noticed the impeccable craftsmanship, I fell even more in love. I slipped the flats on and waited for my feet to sigh in bliss….Nooooo!!! I silently cried as my hopes and shoe dreams sank. Alas, they were too narrow for me.
My feet must be swollen today, I thought. I’ll try them on later in the day when my feet aren’t so big from the heat (therein lies faulty reasoning, I know). Despite using every line of reason with my feet and trying to figure out how to stretch the Bottega flats, I could not find a way for the shoes to fit. So they were carefully tucked back into their shoebox and reluctantly returned. To those beautiful flats that just weren’t meant to be, I hope you find a good home/closet and know that it was very hard for me to part with you.
