Brian Atwood ‘Harrison’ pumps

Happy Monday, folks.

Summer hit here hard last week in my part of the country, if a day late temperature-wise. Which has me personally shopping my closet for alternatives to the boots that still litter my none-too-organized wardrobe’s floor.

And, of course, wishful thinking brings me to engage in online window-shopping as well. Which is a bit masochistic when I am on a budget-healthy, shoe-restriction.  But what’s a shoe lover to do?

Anyway, I go peeking over at Saks and what do I find? Boots, boots and more boots for Fall 2010, coming into stock now.

Argh!!!!

No, I will not show you any boots today – no matter that they are trickling back into retailers in anticipation of the fall retail season. I won’t do it. Not today.

Today, I am going to indulge in more of an  all-seasons, dinner-date to club-vibe of a shoe.

Brian Atwood ‘Harrison’ chain-trimmed pumps $1050 at Saks.com

These are subtle statement shoes. Yes, that is a bit of an intentional oxymoron. These are coy at first glance with a bit of an edge expressed in the heel.

These are …dare I say it? … a bit like a mullet …. business in the front, but party in the back.  Luckily, these are much prettier than any mullet I’ve ever seen.  I particularly like how the chain is integrated into the corset-styled lacing – just the thing to hint at your exotic side.

What to you, our readers think?

I really like these heels in black, and yes they're rather appealing to an edgier buyer–I shop at Hot Topic regularly, but I'm also a 15yr. old tomboy–but these heels are elegant and fashionable enough to make a broad audience intrigued.

The grey-purple tone isn't my thing, but it's a nice shoe and it's very well-designed whether it looks like a rockstar should wear it or not.

AEJ…I have not, but thank you. If I never post another comment here it is because my husband has finally strangled me over my shoe obsession ;)

Valentina – have you seen the Upper Street website? You can design your own shoes, and they offer gold-tone buckles. I could spend hours/days there designing shoes… :)

Brian Atwood recently did a boot collaboration with stylist Rachel Zoe. Here is the boot: http://twitpic.com/1vm9pw

This pump kinda reminds me of the boot.

Yes, unfortunately for me, the designer's selection of silvertone hardware causes me to recoil and precludes me from purchasing what could have been an abso****ing-lutely, killer shoe. Drats :(

Gold tone may be more luxe. But, if the designer is trying to channel more authentic rock/alternate looks, than silver is their obvious choice. Hot Topic et. al. have served that market successfully for a reason. I also have encountered women who love metallic hardware on their purses, but have a decided preference for silver or gold, but rarely both. I suppose designers could offer both metal color options, but that doesn't happen very often.

Again with the silvertone hardware…looks SO Hot Topic. Goldtone is so much more luxe and would have been perfection on this shoe.

I'm not too crazy about that grey color, but I do like the contrast with the crazy, fun, heel design. I'm not too fond of the price, however. But the pricier the shoe, the more fun it is to monitor-shop! :D
