To me, Burberry is the height of class and edginess, and I don’t think anything personifies that more than Burberry’s Quilted Black and Grey Nylon Platform Boots ($750 at Zappos). I love plaid and checks as long as they are tastefully done. Incorporating them into a pair of shoes can get a bit tricky, because the patterns can get a little campy if you aren’t careful — but that definitely is not the case here.
I love the juxtaposition of the patent leather with the stripe checked design. This is not just your basic black boot, not by any means. Even the toe is shaped in a unique way – not quite pointed, not quite rounded. The heel is a somewhat reasonable two and a half inches, so if you have a tendency to fall down (as I myself am inclined to do), at least you’ll only fall 2 inches instead of 5 inches as with some other stilettos.
I’m a fan of high heeled boots in general, and I love the special touches and accents on these. For instance, the straps around the ankles and their little buckles are just adorable. On the back, there are engraved plaques. This is the kind of shoe that makes you feel hot just by owning it, let alone wearing it. Burberry knows how to do sexy with a classy, sophisticated edge; that’s my very favorite thing about the brand.
So what about you? Do you prefer simple, elegant shoes with no accents, or do you like your shoes to have a lot of pizzazz and personality?
