Calgarius: Loira Sandal

Ooh, pretty!

If I had a kiln -- oh,  and a lot more free time than parenting normally allows, this is the type of metalwork as art-to-wear that I would love to be able to eventually produce.

Squee! Here’s a close-up of the leaves and rhinestones:

These are beautiful, a little bit out there, but still wearable through more than a single season; nature themes are always cycling in and out of mainstream fashion. While hubby looked at these and immediately commented,  “Looks painful.”,  I just sighed, felt my heart go all fluttery, and wished I had fewer financial obligations that are way more important than trying to find a way to finagle these into my closet.

As far as I can tell, these are past-season (2008?) from the short-lived ‘Caligarius’  line designed by Stefano Ferragamo (who is related to that Salvatore Ferragamo we’ve all heard of) that was announced back in 2004 (Their blog & facebook sites  have not been updated since ’09 & the main Caligarius website is also several years out of date.)

The Caligarius ‘Loira’ is $625 via Endless.com

Shuzsociety Interview:

Stefano Ferragamo via Manutav1970:

Via Zappos: “Stefano Ferragamo is the life and soul of CALIGARIUS. This is a young brand, created only in 2004, but any expert eye will immediately understand how much experience is lying on the sidelines. Over the twenty years of his working life devoted to the family shoe business, Stefano has built up a thorough and valuable knowledge about anything connected with footwear, taking over from his father, one of the greatest technicians in the field. His initiative, combined with great interest and love for shoes, eventually led him, in his forties, to establish his own company and brand. The name he chose is the Latin word for what could perhaps be considered the first professional footwear manufacturer in Italy: in ancient Rome, the caligarius. Caligarius is based in Florence, Tuscany, a particularly qualified leather and shoe making district of Italy, where most of the leading brands have their collections developed and produced. An enthusiastic and dynamic personality, Stefano is passionately hands on with every facet of the business.
Caligarius blends experience and tradition with technical innovation and fashion trends. All Caligarius shoes are made in Italy, from the finest leathers. Comfort is a top priority. All heels and lasts are carefully adjusted for perfect balance. Even the highest stiletto must provide steady support besides its alluring appearance. Beautiful Caligarius shoes are crafted to fit the anatomy of the foot. Walking in Caligarius shoes will result in an easy self-assured and elegant gait.

… Caligarius shoes shoes are simply a perfect fit!”

Via Shoemetro: “The Caligarius brand takes its name from an historic shoe maker from ancient Rome. With Italian tradition and pride firmly in mind, designer Stefano Ferragamo crafts exquisite shoes with the finest of raw materials and a greatest attention to detail. His Caligarius line offers magnificent high-heel pumps, exquisite flats, extravagant sandals, luxurious slides, chic wedges, and bold platforms. Stefano Ferragamo’s Caligarius brand stands for the finest in classic style and refinement.

If we weren't 2 shoe sizes apart, we'd be a natural to team up & split on shoes. lol.
