Calvin Klein Spring 2011

While Marc Jacobs did a Skittles colored collection with chunky heeled shoes, Francisco Costa at Calvin Klein was on the complete other side of the spectrum.  He featured soft, soft fabrics with a minimalist cut and used about 5 colors.  It is wonderful.  The shoes are interesting too.  Initially, they didn’t seem all that unusual, but then I looked again and saw the different components that made a fabulous shoe.  Let me show you what I am talking about.

Initially I thought, “Whatever.  Another platform shoe with bronze straps.”  Then I saw photos from behind.

There is a lucite piece in the squared heel.  Later photos give you a better look at what I am talking about.  I like the wood treatment on the sole.  The straps at the heel are a little different than a normal criss-cross strappy ankle buckle thing.  This is where the components work together.   They aren’t statement shoes, but they are flattering for most women and most clothing styles.  Here are some more shoes from the Calvin Klein Collection.

Love the soft fabrics, love the cuts of these dresses.  It would be fun to see Cate Blanchette wear one of these dresses.

Same thoughts, but when I scrolled down.. wow! It's enchanting

It's all in the details. Cate Blanchette, can carry this look effortlessly, and so as Keira Knightley. But the shoes are the best! Cheers!
