Whenever I wear a pair of pointy-toed shoes or boots, as I did this past weekend, my husband is prone to making comments along the lines of “Well, I can see which boots you’ll be wearing on Halloween.” This type of none-too-subtle witch reference is not lost on me. There are even those who categorically hate all pointy-toed shoes and use the phrase ‘Witch shoes’ dismissively. As for me, I simply shrug off any negativity regarding this classic style – as would anyone who has ever been lulled by the siren call of the perfect pair of pointy pumps. That perfect pair of witch pumps works its own spell on you so that you are unable to resist their particular charm.
Here’s to being the best-dressed witch in the neighborhood.
Manolo, Armani, and Weitzman, Oh My.
So many sweet pretties. *Cackle*
Okay, now that I’m back to Earth and off my broomstick, my Never Pay Retail budget tendencies are kicking in. So, here are a few somewhat more affordable alternatives for those of you currently situated in more of a bargainista than fashionista mode.
In the end, I’m very tempted to grab these truly funky NYLA Knee-high Boots.
I’ll get you, my pretties.
Hot on the heels of Shoesense’s post about John Galliano’s crazy shoes (and please, let’s take a minute to goggle at the maestro’s Klimtian clothing that is simply gorgeous) comes some other footwear from the Paris Spring 08 runways.
Anne Valérie Hash offers this cool shaped shoe in a variety of colors:
And from the Armani Privé show comes a number of variations on the super-high spike heeled, pointy toed, bow-embellished pump.
My fave shoe from the Armani Privé show, though, is this glitzy version, which accompanied one of the many gorgeous business suit inspired evening looks that came down the runway.
Paris Fashion Week has started off with a beautiful bang, and I can’t wait to see what other couture outfits we get, whether or not there’s an Oscar red carpet for them to show up on in a few weeks.
Attention shoppers! Neiman Marcus has further reductions these days on items already marked down! It’s the so-called four-day sale and there are some real gems to be found in there, which are now 60% or more off. For example, I’m drooling over these Giorgio Armani bow d’Orsay flats:
Patent leather with ivory woven leather trim and a grosgrain bow trimmed with black patent and pinned down with tiny logo jewerly. Mmmmm! They are $252 instead of $630–that’s 60% off! I know, that’s still quite pricey, but–can you put a price on gorgeousness? I think not!
