-Manolo Blahnik offers his thoughts on the spring 2010’s shoe trends. His take on Chanel’s runway clogs? Manolo says, “…When I design, personally I like delicate shoes, but I actually like this season’s clogs; I love flats – and I like the peasant look. We have actually ordered two styles of clogs to be made this season for Manolo Blahnik.” [via Vogue UK]

-Christian Louboutin is known as a shoe and handbag designer. For the release of the Le Rituel champagne, Louboutin stepped out of his norm and into the role of a movie director. Watch the Cinderella inspired video on YouTube.
Christian Louboutin has been busy branching out lately. We’ve already seen his collection of handbags with red sole clasps and now Louboutin is dabbling in the champagne business. In October, Christian Louboutin will launched his own champagne with champagne house Piper Heidsieck. The limited edition “Le Rituel” box set is meant to revive an old ritual in the 1880s of drinking from the shoe of a woman. The crystal stiletto designed by Christian Louboutin will carry the signature red sole and is included in this limited edition gift box set.
No word on pricing, but it will be sold through Colette.
Update: This will be available in the US starting October 19th. Details on how to purchase this Louboutin collectible will be available on the www.le-rituel.com website.
Bare with me. I’m still catching up with fashion week and though these posts are a a bit late, I would be remiss not to share the gorgeous Christian Louboutin shoes worn by the models for Marchesa’s equally stunning Spring 2010 collection.
First up is this beautiful cutout black and white Marchesa dress. The collection was supposedly inspired by Madame Butterfly. I love the twists and turns on this dress and wonder how the curvy design remains intact. The model is wearing patent mesh ankle boots with this dress. If the shoes look familiar, they are indeed very similar to the Louboutin’s Bridget and Bridget Strass shoe, which most of you liked seeing on Sarah Jessica Parker in a scene from SATC 2, the most. The mesh bootie shows how curled up these model’s toes were. I would pity her except she gets to wear this dress.
Here’s a white version of the Louboutin heel we just saw except the heel cap seems to have a bit more texture. The bow on the dinner jacket reminds me of a wedding cake.
Louboutin seems to favor see-through, mesh detailing for spring. Here’s a fuschia peep-toe creation with weaved embroidery.
If I wasn’t already married, I would want to buy these Louboutin shoes for my wedding. Hmm, maybe we should renew our vows.
Fall has barely begun but I have a feeling we’ll be seeing more from Christian Louboutin’s von Bridget family.
Scarlett Johannsen, Leelee Sobieski (yes, she’s pregnant), Sarah Jessica Parker on the set of SATC 2, Jennifer Lopez, and Khloe Kardashian have all been seen wearing Christian Louboutin’s Bridget and its sibling, the Bridget Strass. On Louboutin’s official website, the caption next to the shoe reads “Bridget was that girl at school who had everything, this is her shoe”.
Which of these looks were your favorite?

Last year we wrote about the Ruby Slipper Extravagaza in celebration of the 70th Anniversary of The Wizard of Oz. Some of theworld’s top shoe designers were chosen to reinterpret Dorothy’s iconic Ruby Slippers for modern times. At the time, only artists’ sketches were available, but now the actual shoes created are available for viewing.
The shoes are currently on display at the Swarovski CRYSTALLIZED ™ Store in Soho until September 15 -23. If you can’t make it to the store, you can view the collection online and even bid on individual shoes via an online auction (www.rubyslipperauction.com) benefiting the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Bidding closes on the evening of September 24, 2009.
