This Week in Shoes

Posted by galligator in Christian Louboutin Shoes, General, Jimmy Choo Shoes, This week in shoes

Okay, we kind of took a break after the New Years holiday, so some of this is more ‘This Month’ than ‘This Week’, but here goes:

From today’s twitterstream:

A history of platforms, found by shoebizness.com:

Check out Claudia Lynch’s  ‘Shoe Stories’ Glicee prints …. I am in love and now want several of these.

(Prints & notecards available at www.claudialynch.com)

And, from everywhere else:

Jimmy Choo has launched their Choo 24:7 line of shoes; HiFashion also blogs a peek-a-boo on these.

(I’m a sucker for this Leila Mary Jane $525)

Stylebubble shows us ’scoots’ (convertible scarf boots) by Russy Valenki:

Via wallpaper, a peek at the unique storefront of the recently-opened  Christian Louboutin boutique in Miami.

Via formspring.me, one gal’s solution to the (all too common) shoe-fund dilemma.

And, not particularly shoe-related, but worth a read, the ‘Why I hate Fashion’ rant by Tanya Gold along with some alternate perspectives on this whole fashion-thing.

Pantone’s Color of the Year: Turquoise

Posted by galligator in Boots, Christian Louboutin Shoes, Flats, Guess, High heels, Jeffrey Campbell, L.A.M.B., Mary Janes, Mules, Payless Shoe Source, Platforms, Poetic Licence, Pumps, Sandals, Stuart Weitzman Shoes, Trend Alert, spring 2010 shoes

I’m not one for following every color trend that comes along.

As I push on closer and closer to (age) 40, I tend to stick with those colors that have proved to be complimentary to me over the years. Luckily, pretty much anything in the blue color family works for me.

Plus, with something close to an even zillion re-tweets last week of Pantone’s Color of 2010, this particular color trend seemed worth mentioning.

It will certainly be interesting to see if fashion and shoe trends fall in line with this prediction. It makes sense given the current resurgence of 80’s-inspired fashion that several of the staple colors from that decade, including turquoise and fuschia, would make an appearance. I also recall seeing a significant increase in both turqoise and fuschia sandals last spring and summer, so maybe this is less of a prediction than an acknowledgement of an emerging trend.

So, here it is:

15-5519 Turquoise, an inviting, luminous hue, as the color of the year for 2010. Combining the serene qualities of blue and the invigorating aspects of green, Turquoise evokes thoughts of soothing, tropical waters and a languorous, effective escape from the everyday troubles of the world, while at the same time restoring our sense of wellbeing.

Luckily for me, I already have my turquoise for the year – care of a few great sales last spring:

Guess ‘Chiquita” & LAMB watch

Sandals by ‘Hot in Hollywood’

Report Signature’s ‘Dita’

Okay, I’ll admit, the last is more of a faboulous sky blue, but what’s the point if all of my shoes are the exact same shade?

Anyway, while I doubt any of these shoes from my collection are still available anywhere but the retail aftermarket, there are still a huge number of fantastic turquoise options for you to choose from right now.

Among them:

Christian Louboutin Double Platform Knotted Mule $895 at Nieman Marcus

Christian Louboutin Glitter Peep Toe Pumps $725 at Nieman Marcus

Stuart Weitzman Turquoise Embellished Strappy Sandals $395 at Saks.com

And, for the slightly more budget-conscious:

Jeffrey Campbell ‘Downtown’ Bootie $139.95

Poetic License ‘Kiss and Tell’ $94.95 at Nordstrom.com

Tory Burch Reva Jelly Flats $95 at Saks.com

Steve Madden ‘Saahara’ $49.95 at Nordstrom

And, for the extreme frugalista:

Montege Bay ‘Oscar Bow’ $16.99 $12.99 at Payless.com

Montego Bay ‘Marissa’ sandal $19.99 at Payless.com

So, will you be on the hunt for the perfect turquoise footwear this year?

Christian Louboutin Ribbon and Chain Bag

Posted by Shomore in Christian Louboutin Shoes

When Christian Louboutin branched out into handbags a few seasons ago, I was less than enamored.  I was hoping that, with time and more experience, the handbags would become as gorgeous as the shoes were.   With Spring 2010 collections available for preorder, including this Christian Louboutin’s Ribbon and Chain Bag ($695 at Neiman Marcus), it looks like I’ll need to wait a few more seasons.    I feel like Uncle Scrooge for saying this, especially since it’s the holidays.  The bag is quite festive looking, but when I think of Louboutin, the word sexy typically comes to mind.  This handbag is more matronly to me.   Now, if Louboutin were to release a jewelry line like the shoe charms printed on this bag, it might be something I would go for.

Christian Louboutin Resort 2010 Shoes

Posted by Shomore in Christian Louboutin Shoes, spring 2010 shoes

Christian Louboutin’s Resort 2010 Shoes just perked up this shoeblogger’s rainy day.  My favorite eye candy is this gilded pattern seen on the classic Louboutin Titi pump.  Magnifique!

How can you not love the studded PURPLE ballerinas!

I’ve never been a fan of canvas/burlap but I might make an exception for the Louboutin gris mule.

Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for Louboutin’s flat sandals, which I’ve never been a fan of.
