Dior Ribbon Boot: To Die For
posted by: designer in Christian Dior Shoes
I think it is becoming pretty clear to everyone that I like boots. Flat boots, high heel boots, ankle length or knee length or higher – I don’t care. I truly believe there is a boot for every season, style, and invent. If I could get away with wearing boots at my wedding, I probably would. And I have to tell you, I love the way Christian Dior does boots. In fact, I love the way Christian Dior does pretty much everything, from pumps to flats to sandals to boots and everything in between. That includes the Dior Ribbon Boot ($960 at Neiman Marcus), which is elegant in its simplicity but still edgy enough to be completely cool.
The boot is also available in black, but I love this color is well. I don’t know if you’d consider it a dark shade of raspberry or a sort of plum or what, (more…)
Christian Dior Snake-Print Leather Pumps

I have a confession to make: I secretly love pink. It’s not so secret anymore, granted, but I tend to keep it from my friends and family, which is why they must never, ever know how utterly in love I am with Christian Dior’s new Snake-Print Leather pumps ($590 at Saks) in pink. Pink! They are so pretty, I don’t even know what to do with myself.
I’ve noticed lately that snake skin shoes are becoming more and more popular — to the point where I hardly notice them anymore. The lovely, feminine shell pink color is what first made me stop on this pair. They are available in black as well, and had that been the highlighted color, I probably would have passed right over this scrumptious pair of heels. (more…)
Dior Temptation Bootie

Dior Temptation Bootie, $990 at Nordstroms
These Dior booties are properly named “Temptation” because I really want these shoes. I’m in love with the thoughtful details put into this shoe and the excellent usage of a variety of skins. First you have a tiny strip of snakeskin platform. On top, front and center, you have another panel of snakeskin. All of this is contrasted perfectly with the alternating strips of leather and suede for the cage boot effect. Plus, there are enough cutouts and a peep toe bootie to show some skin and that pedicure I just got. A zip back closure allows for easy access into the shoe.
Dior Spring/Summer 2011

It has taken a while to look at- and comment on- everything featured in each Fashion Week. I have been critical of the shoes featured so far. They have been uninspired, uninteresting, unoriginal. While there is nothing new under the sun, John Galliano’s collection for Christian Dior featured, fun, colorful and reasonably interesting shoes.
I have read criticism that these shoes are too subdued for John Galliano, and that the collection isn’t really a Dior Girl’s collection. I am not sure who the Dior Girl is and what she is supposed to wear, but subdued isn’t the term I would use for this collection. It would be nice to get an upclose and personal look at these to see how they are made.
When looking at the collection, the image of Mitzi Gaynor singing, I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair came to mind.
Let’s look at the rest of the shoes and part of the collection.
Fall 2010 Couture: Christian Dior Shoes

For the Christian Dior Fall 2010 Couture show, creative director John Galliano created a virtual garden on the runway. For the floral motif, models were transformed into pansies, daffodils, and other brilliantly colored flowers.
The shoes also took on an organic feel with heels made to look like intertwined stems and pastel-colored strappy sandals which looked like they would bloom at a moment’s notice. What are you thoughts on these shoes? Would Mother Nature have approved? (more…)
