With Halloween right around the corner, Giuseppe Zanotti has cast a spell on me with these wickedly sexy spider pumps.  I love how the gunmetal spider ornament looks like it’s taking a bite out of your foot and the silver tipped heels (a dagger anyone?) is a nice touch too.  Of course, the price is ghastly, but you will literally stand out in the crowd with the 4.5 inch heels.

Fashion’s Night Out in New York

Well, this year, Fashion’s Night Out in New York really rolled out the red carpet.

FNO is one of my favorite nights of the year. Who doesn’t love meeting their favorite designers, editors, models and style icon celebs? 

Forget the loud clubs. My favorite way to party is by shopping and mingling. And if you don’t love sipping free champagne, eating free Cluizel chocolates, scoping out handsome male models strutting around in slim suits, nabbing free Estee Lauder and Jo Malone beauty products, I don’t know if you and I can be friends. 

At Saks, the fabulous Alexandre Birman, exotic shoe designer extraordinaire, judged customers in a red carpet competition to see who had the best saucy struts in high heels.

Yes, I realize that Pantone released this press release months ago. But, mid-winter didn’t really feel like the right time to find the best examples of shoes in their 2011 ‘color of the year’.

The color in question: Honeysuckle.

Which, for those of us less picky about our nomenclature is a bright, vibrant, retro-80′s-trending, PINK!

I have discussed Giuseppe Zanotti’s design aesthetic and ideology at length before, but one thing bears repeating: the man definitely has his finger on the pulse of what women want, need, and have to have in our shoes; he knows what we like for any number of different occasions. Now, this Chiffon-Flower Sandal ($695 at Neiman Marcus) might not be your thing, but even if you’re anti chiffon or anti flowers, you have to admit that these are gorgeously put together.

I am originally from the South, however, so I adore all things chiffon, and honey, there is no such thing as too many flowers. I know it’s the dregs of winter and few of us would have any opportunity to wear these gorgeous Giuseppe Zanotti masterpieces unless we want to get frostbite, but check this out: (more…)

One of the things I love most about Giuseppe Zanotti’s shoes are the way they incorporate different aspects of fashion into footwear. For instance, take a look at the Corset Pumps ($696 at ShopBop) he did for Thakoon. If you’ve ever had any questions about where Zanotti finds inspiration, these pumps may well tell you everything you need to know.

Just to give you some examples, I recently read an interview with him where he reveals that one pair of his favorite shoes was inspired by a buckle on one of Jimi Hendrix’s guitars. At the same time, he is inspired by fantasy – not a woman you see walking the streets, dining out, or shopping, but a woman you imagine, a woman you fantasize about. (more…)
