Talk like a Pirate Day.

Ahoy Matey and Shiver me Timbers, it be International Talk Like a Pirate Day.

Never heard of it? Check out the official web-page Here. If you’re feeling punchy, you can also find your true Pirate Name (I am apparently Black Morgan Kidd).

Yes indeed, September 19th is Talk Like a Pirate Day; a rather young holiday that is slowly growing its public awareness and gaining more fans every year.  Maybe it’s that whole ‘excuse to annoy your co-workers and drink rum’ quality that folks find appealing? Of course, any excuse to drink rum and misbehave has all the earmarks of an instant holiday classic. Adding obscure and barely intelligible speech into the mix is just the the topper. Too bad I don’t happen to own a parrot.

Not sure how to speak appropriately for the occasion? Here is a handy Dictionary of Terms to help you out. Or, if you like, you can just type your modern speech into this handy pirate-speak translator.

Oh, and don’t forget your Pirate Boots. You do want to look the part, correct?
(Translation: Ahoy, and don’t be forgettin’ yer Pirate Boots. You do want t’ look the part, Aye? Gar, Where can I find a bottle o’rum?):

Isabella Fiore ‘Greenland’ boot, $305.00 at Zappos.com:

Or, Pleaser’s ‘Pirate 130′ for $60.00 Zappos.com/ $49.95 Endless.com.

Kick up yer booted heels and have fun with it. Gar.

Purple Isabella Fiore pumps

Posted by shoesense in Isabella Fiore Shoes, Pumps

The ads for fall fashion are replete with grays and purples–a sophisticated if somber combination. I find that a purple shoe to accessorize your gray-hued wardrobe is a most satisfying splash of color–and for that, may I recommend this Isabella Fiore ‘Cherise’ quarter-strap pump?

I love the plum satin upper with beautiful and subtle embroidery, and the purple stacked heel. They’re $428 at Zappos.

Isabella Fiore Wedges

Patent and embroidery: oh, my!

Isabella Fiore

There’s nothing particularly new about these Isabella Fiore ‘Peacock Loreen’ wedges ($450 at eLuxury)–after all, we’ve seen it all before, the shiny patent, the peep-toe and slingback combo, the bow on the vamp. But what I particularly like about this one is the juxtaposition of hard (patent) and soft (embroidery). This is one sure way to send off mixed signals, if you know what I mean–and you’d look fabulous while doing it!

Isabella Fiore

Posted by shoesense in Flats, Isabella Fiore Shoes

We’re all more familiar with Isabella Fiore’s beautiful bags, but her shoes are as bit as whimsical, vibrant, and cutting edge. Case in point: these Lauper flats, which are both romantic and spunky and would be perfect for a leisurely autumn walk in the park with your beloved (followed by cup of warm cinnamon chocolate in a fancy cafe).

They have three braided leather rings on the vamp, contrast whipstich trim, and embroidery on the back ("Love" and flowers). In my book, it doesn’t get sweeter than that! Available in rust (shown) or chocolate, only $217 at Nordstrom’s, or $329 (regular price) at Zappos. Being flats, they also promise to be rather comfortable. Enjoy!
