Yes, I realize that Pantone released this press release months ago. But, mid-winter didn’t really feel like the right time to find the best examples of shoes in their 2011 ‘color of the year’.

The color in question: Honeysuckle.

Miu Miu drives me crazy. I don’t mean that in a bad way, I mean that I keep running across Miu Miu shoes that I want to buy, so I end up with this wish list that stretches down my driveway and across the street. These exquisite Patent Mid Heel Zip Back Booties with Bow Detail ($580 at Neiman Marcus) are the newest items on my list of must-have acquisitions.

These boots are so smart looking, like you know they would look good with a suit, a pencil skirt, pinstriped slacks, or just the right little black dress. It’s cold outside. It’s cold and grey and the Boston forecast is calling for metric tons of snow and I am tired of winter, so I’m still focus on Spring/Summer lines – and Miu Miu’s makes me especially happy. I mean, even though I have not seen the sun for approximately a hundred days (this is a slight exaggeration, by the way), there is no way I can’t look at Miu Miu’s lovely, vivacious Sandali Polka Dot Cotton Sandals ($495 at Saks) without feeling happy. They evoke the sun, do you know what I mean?

I confess, every time I look at them, I keep hearing that little ditty – “She wore an itsy bitsy, teeny weeny, yellow polka dot bikini…” – even though, obviously, the sandals aren’t yellow and we are not talking about a bikini. I always think of that song when I see polka dots, I can’t help it.

I must say, however, they lend themselves much, much better to red and white. (more…)

It’s not too terribly often that I come across something I haven’t ever seen before – like the rare treat of those gorgeous fiber optic works of art from Anastasia Radevich (which still make me shiver!). This time, however, Prada’s caught me by surprise. I’m not saying there are no sandals like these Patent Leather Platform Sandals ($650 at Saks) out there, I am just saying that I can’t recall ever seeing anything like these before.

I have to tell you, I love them to death. I almost feel like I really shouldn’t, but I definitely do. There’s something about the shape, the overall silhouette, that really tickles my fancy. I mean, this sandal is basically all platform. It’s all platform and three little straps. I don’t know, it’s kind of like the shoe version of a string bikini or something.

Obviously, yeah, it’s not a winter friendly shoe. (more…)
