Faithful Shoeblog readers may remember back in May when Shoesense posted about the new shoes-only zip code at Saks Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.
Well, what’s the good of living near such a shoe lover’s Mecca if I don’t go check the place out now that it’s been open for a few weeks. So that’s what I did for a part of Saturday afternoon. And for all you shoe lovers out there who want to live vicariously through my trip, I come bearing pictures. Come walk with me in Shoeland.
The ”mailbox” at the entrance to the floor.
Shoes, shoes, and more shoes.
More below the jump.

The colorful butterfly appliques on these Rene Caovilla sandals may be a bit over the top, but I’m in a whimsical mood. I can’t think of a better shoe to help celebrate the new season (yay, I’m actually looking forward to the dog days of summer!). They’re enough to make my heart go aflutter.

Rene Caovilla Butterfly Sandals are on sale at NM for $664.

Much like Shoesense, I am down in the flooded, muddy, never-see-the-light-of-the-sun-again dumps. And I’m indulging in escapist fantasies about gorgeous shoes to make up for it.
Like this one by Rene Caovilla.

Oh, pretty! But it’s got a price tag that’s not quite so attractive
($1,035)!

I have to admit that this is the first time I see an ankle-wrap sandal in which the ‘wrap’ doesn’t exactly wrap, tie, buckle, or is held together by snaps or buttons–instead, it coils around the ankle. I wonder how ‘hard’ or ‘elastic’ the coil is so that it actually stays put in place. At any rate, an elegant creation in gold leather and amber stones from Rene Caovilla, and also stunningly sexy (though I couldn’t wear it for the life of me). If you’re into that sort of thing, these platform sandals are $875 at Neiman Marcus.
