Shoes of the 2009 AMA’s

I am not much of a celebrity watcher. But, as might be expected, I am a shoe-watcher. So, despite my general cluelessness on who’s who these days in Hollywood, I love looking at the fashion photos of red-carpet events like yesterday’s AMA’s.
By the way, it drives me nuts that you can get fashion coverage of what folks wore, but they almost never mention the shoes as a part of this!!!
Am I the only person driven bonkers by this oversight?
Now I am left trying to wrack my brain in an attempt to remember who makes which shoe, etc. It’s enough to give a girl a migraine.
So, a quick rundown of some of the shoes seen on the AMA red carpet along with who makes them…in cases where my memory is actually serving me today. (Celeb photos are c/o Huffington Post & Popsugar)
Kristen Bell in Christian Louboutin:
Christian Louboutin ‘Archidisco’ $995
Colbie Caillat in what looks an awfully lot like a non-platform version of Louboutin’s ‘Ambro’ lace pump:
Christian Louboutin ‘Ambro’ $825
(A similar budget style is available here.)
Alicia Keys…I should know this shoe & it’s driving me nuts. Somebody help me since my memory has completely betrayed me on these brilliant blue sandals:
Rihanna, sporting the Marchessa cut-out dress we saw recently. Love it or hate it, these white ankle-strap pums paired beautifully with this dress. (No, I haven’t figured out the maker of these shoes yet, either.)
Leona Lewis in chain-bedecked booties.
While her boots are probably not the exact ones I am showing here, these are the closest I could find on at the moment to a match for her booties:
Bakers Shoes ‘Julee’ (Another similar style is ‘Flash’ by Dolce Vita)
And I’ll end this with another shoe for whom I can’t find the maker, but have found a few strappy-alternatives that I would be just as happy to wear.
Carrie Underwood:
If you like these uber-strappy sandals, maybe one of these would also tempt you:
Guiseppe Zanotti Strappy Leather Sandal
Edited to add: Found the Jimmy Choos at Bluefly!!!!
Jimmy Choo ‘Verity’ $876 $1095

Who Says Boots Were Made Only for Walking in Winter?
posted by: freePOrnaoa in Chinese Laundry, General, Sigerson Morrison Shoes
I’m one of those stubborn girls who insists on wearing her boots in the summer. Why, you ask? Because boots are hot with short little skirts, and I live in miniskirts (until I turn 30… okay, maybe later too…)
But no one wants to be sweating in their boots, however cute. So here are a few that will make you look hot but not feel sweaty this summer, many of them with cutouts for ventilation (who wants to wear socks during the summer?). Winter white was hot, and now summer off-white and white are hot, but that doesn’t mean black doesn’t look still great at night.
I love the cute little curvy laser cutout Jump Mond, available for $100.80 at Zappos.
The famous Giuseppe Zanotti boot with a number for its name now comes in a summer-appropriate shade, but still at $879, unfortunately. You can zip them up by hitting Endless. I still think it looks like a whalebone corset or a skeleton.
Marc, j’adore! MBMJ Leather Cutout Boots for $550 at Net-a-Porter.
If you can afford the lovely YSL Cage Ankle Boots that go for the price of a cheap studio’s monthly rent in New York, scoop ‘em up for $1290 at Net-a-Porter.
If you can’t afford them, then try the Luichiny Star Bound for $93.95 at Zappos. Yes, people will know it’s not the real thing, and no, it’s not as quality, but it’s about $1200 cheaper and if it’s the look you’re going for…
Jimmy Choo’s Reese is $995 at Net-a-Porter.
The Chinese Laundry Kingwood is cute but I think the Western style might go out of style pretty quickly. However, if you dig the trend, it’s pretty adorable for right now. It’s at Endless for $119.95.
I can’t help but like the androidy/Star Wars getup/forcefield-like/constructed-from-Nile-reeds Sigerson Morrison gladiator, but then, you all know I like freak shoes (anything but NORMAL – gasp!). It’s available at La Garconne for $1048.60. (Yes, that’s right, you read that correctly.)
I don’t love Sigerson Morrison’s cutout boot, but maybe you will. They’re on sale for $356 at Zappos.
Lastly, leave it to Proenza Schouler to wow with $1150 boots at Zappos Couture. Love it! The interestingly placed zipper, the great heel detail, the half solid leather, half gladiator-style shredded leather, this is a perfect boot.
Lastly, my other fave, the Halston Cluny magenta cutout boots, $1395, available at Net-a-Porter.com.
Go to Shopbop for more lovely boots, including some of my favorites by Balmain, Camilla Skovgaard, Givenchy, Zero Maria Cornejo and Opening Ceremony.
Gimme Shoes or Gimme Death

Ok, so my title is a bit over the top, but I’d rather perish than live an existence without shoe shopping. I may have cut down on my clothes shopping, but shoe shopping is a bare essential! I’ll be wearing a potato sack in Great Depression 2.0, but my shoes will gleam like a brand new shiny silver nickel, even if I have to cover Keds with aluminum foil or spray paint them silver!
In San Francisco, Gimme Shoes is one of my new favorite stores. They just have fantastic taste, rejecting vulgarity in favor of classic, classy styles. The lovely designer Louisa Parris told me she got some of her runway shoes for the Gen Art Fresh Faces in Fashion event from Gimme, and after several visits, I can see why. I stopped by the Gimme in Hayes Valley and saw this irresistible Belle by Sigerson Morrison origami flat and Repetto boot.
They are having a winter sale online where you can find the delicious likes of Loeffler Randall, Dries Van Noten, Chie Mihara, 3.1 Philip Lim and Yohji Yamamoto. Check it out here.
Sigerson Morrison and Anya Hindmarch for Target
posted by: Shomore in Sigerson Morrison Shoes, Target Go Designers
While I continue to gape and awe at the latest trendy designer shoes and bags, I’m realistic. The current economy and job market doesn’t make it very prudent to splurge on expensive accessories. Yet, I am a girl with desires. The need to shop is almost as strong as my need for air and water to live.
That’s why Target is my fashion heroine right now. Target just came to this economic-savvy shopaholic’s rescue with the Sigerson Morrison for Target limited edition footwear collection AND the Anya Hindmarch for Target handbag line. Designer chic but for cheap? What a great combo!
Both designer collections are available online NOW through December 26th (if the stock even lasts that long) and I’m quite impressed with both collections as they have a fun style to fit every girl’s tastes, especially the Sigerson Morrison shoes! Santa just dropped off a few early Christmas presents for me!
The Sigerson Morrison for Target® shoe line ranges from $29.99-39.99
I’ve seen Anya Hindmarch clutches and hobos go for upwards of $1,000. Anya Hindmarch for Target handbags start at $19.99 and go up to $49.99. At those prices, you can pick one up for the office, a second purse for the casual weekend, and a third for cocktail hour.
