YSL Cuffed Wedge Ankle Boots

I love it when a label surprises me. Like, Yves Saint Laurent: time tested, classic, extremely well known, top of the line. You always think you know what the label is going to produce and then boom! Huge surprise. When I hear “Yves Saint Laurent,” I think dressy, formal, strappy little heels and high brand, luxury shoes, you know what I mean? And then I see these darling Cuffed Wedge Ankle Boots ($1,150 at Barneys).

All right, all right. So at well over a thousand dollars, they’re not anything to sneeze at, but what I mean is that the style surprises me. Silly as it may be, it’s not something I expect from YSL – but the brand does the style well, as they do all styles well. (more…)

YSL Tribute 105 Mary Jane Suede Pumps

Yves Saint Laurent’s Tribute line of shoes are extremely popular, and a lot of them have rightfully been praised here. I myself have recently fallen head over heels and totally gaga for YSL’s Tribute 105 Mary Jane Suede Pumps ($625.99 at Saks) – and P.S., they are totally on sale right now, down from $895. I can never resist a sale, even when I can’t technically afford it.

I love a lot of things about these pumps, not the least of which is the fact that they are Mary Janes – of course! I could probably wear a different pair of Mary Janes every day of the rest of my life and die a happy, happy girl.

However, love MJs though I do, that is not the only thing that makes these shoes absolutely fabulous. I love the contrasting colors. (more…)

YSL Tribtoo Printed Calf Hair Pumps

YSL Tribtoo Printed Calf Hair Pumps

I’ll be honest, I don’t always go in for animal print … but with designers like Yves Saint Laurent, I am always willing to make an exception. YSL’s Tribtoo Printed Calf Hair Pumps ($880 at Net-a-Porter) are definitely an exception. I am going to be gushing a little bit in this post, I just know it, so please bear with me!

First of all, I love the shape. I love a full toe, especially with a super high heel. I think the silhouette is gorgeous and sexy and just downright delicious. I also love that this isn’t a plain old black pump, yet YSL was bold enough to go with a black and grey pattern – and pulled it off so it’s neither drab nor boring. That also makes it different from most animal prints, and the overall result is sleek, chic, and definitely classy.

The pumps have a suede heel that measures a sky high 6 inches, or 150 millimeters. (more…)

YSL Palais Mohawk Suede Pumps

YSL Palais Mohawk Suede Pumps

You know basic black pumps.  I know basic black pumps.  Everybody knows basic black pumps.  We all own basic black pumps.  My favorite thing to do involves finding a black show with a twist – or some hair, as is the case with these Palaise Mohawk Suede Pumps ($935 at Net-a-Porter) by Yves Saint Laurent.  I am not entire sure if I’m a fan or not, but I will say that they definitely caught my attention.  You have to give them that.

Let’s take a look at some of the more mundane specs, shall we?  The heel is about six inches, which is a pretty decent height.  The platform is subtly curved and goes about an inch high.  (more…)

Yves St. Laurent’s Suede Tribute Knee Boot

Platforms aren’t everybody’s cup of tea. But, for many who love a little – or a lot – of extra oomph to their altitude, YSL’s Tribute and Tribtoo sandals and pumps approach holy grail shoe-status.  This silhouette is so recognizable, it has become a signature item in the YSL shoe collections. So, for fall, it is only fitting that YSL offers up a sumptuous, suede, knee-boot  in this coveted and enduringly popular style.

My favorite part of this boot? The color. (more…)
