Every year Footwear News presents their Achievement awards. I was fairly interested in who was recognized because a lot has happened this year in the footwear industry. Here are some of the recipients awarded on November 29th.
The Person of the Year was Christian Louboutin. In his interviews he comes off as a genuinely great guy.
It is amazing to think that a small but loyal group knew his shoes before 2004. When he opened a shop at 59 Horatio Street. It exposed him to a younger hip group who couldn’t get enough of his shoes. Now red soles show up on every red carpet. In 2010 he opened 11 shops and started his online boutique. Growth in 2010. Amazing.
It’s not news that Christian Louboutin named a pair of shoes after rising superstar Blake Lively, nor is it news that Ms. Lively loves her some Louboutin shoes. What is newsworthy is that the Gossip Girl star was recently spied buying a whole lot of her signature shoes. How many? Oh, just about forty pairs.
This occurred last week in New York City. Blake was invited to the super exclusive, by invitation only sample sale for Christian Louboutin – and she definitely took advantage of it! What would you do if you were hosting an event and were getting paid big bucks? Go for the glamorous look in stilettos or tone it down a bit in wedges or even cute, trendy oxfords?
Victoria Beckham and Brian Atwood collaborated to produce a classic Brian Atwood Maniac pump and an ankle strap pump in a rose-gold color which was worn by all the models on Victoria Beckham’s spring/summer 2010 runway.
Of the color, Victoria Beckham said “I got this new Rolex and I really love the color of (more…)
As I am not gifted with supermodel height, gladiator sandals are a very difficult style of sandal for me to wear. Too often, the ankle straps cut off my already petite legs. But, there is a way to wear the gladiator style and Selena Gomez shows us how. She wore these Sergio Rossi Fall 2010 Patent Leather Gladiator Sandals to the 2010 Teen Choice Awards. You would think the plummage and the straps would diminish Selena’s roughly 5″5 frame, but since they are a nude color, they blend well with her legs. The net effect is a very beautiful look with fierce, attention grabbing shoes.
