Shoes of Project Runway 4.9

Good riddance to Victorya, I say. Her designs were never all that unique, and if I had to hear her talk about how she’s a very competitive person anymore, bodily harm might have been involved.

Her design last night was fug in a big way, and completely uninspired/uninspiring. Plus, she used a nude version of these blah Dais pumps from Stuart Weitzman.

I’m glad we’re done with that.

In other PR shoe news, we saw yet another use of the Patron Shoe of Project Runway 4 (the asymmetrical Versace mary-jane, which now seems to be gone from Bluefly… perhaps sold out with the aid of repeat viewings on PR) with this trench from Jillian, which was almost great, but then lost something in the execution.

Chris used these Gucci Ebony gladiator sandals again (which he also used in the Hershey challenge a few weeks ago), which looked nice enough, but the dress was a bit underwhelming.

Ricky’s winning outfit (which wasn’t my fave, I must admit–nice, but nothing fantastic) made good use of these wicked and excellent boots, which from the red soles, would seem to be Louboutins, but are hiding out there somewhere. Kit used them for the Hershey challenge, too, with an outfit I loved.

Rami went for the clunky Balenciaga nude sandals that went with his and Sweet P’s ready-to-wear outfit from last week. I think the sandals looked much better with the rougher, brass-button-enhanced look of the denim than they did with the floaty dress from last week. I’ve got to say that this outfit was gorgeous, and for me, either this look or The Whiner’s motorcycle-style one would have been crowned winner.

Sweet P brought these jeweled t-strap sandals back, which we first saw way back in the first episode on Carmen’s model. But do they show up on Bluefly? Seemingly not. They’re jeweled enough to come from Guiseppe Zanotti, but who knows.

We’re getting down into the final stretch on PR here. To paraphrase Heidi Klum, “Remember, shoes, this is a competition for you as well. The shoe paired with the winning designer will win a spread in Elle magazine.” OK, well, maybe not. But certainly a lot of popularity. I’m betting on those Versace’s taking the prize.

The Shoes of Project Runway 4.6

Posted by jitterbugbaby in Gucci Shoes, Shoes of Project Runway, Stuart Weitzman Shoes

So, I’ve waited almost an entire week to write about the shoes from last week’s Project Runway episode. So sue me. Better late than never, right? And there were some good ones, too.

Rami’s well-deserved winning outfit was not only fantastic, but also accessorized with these Versace pumps, which were also used with Kit’s outfit from the first episode, which are demure but hyper stylish. They don’t fight with this kitschy dress, but they’re sleek and chic enough to hold their own.

Chris refrained from making an overly costume-y confection out of the confections with this smart, artistic dress, which went nicely with Gucci’s Ebony gladiator-like platform sandals.

Victorya’s outfit plain old sucked, if you ask me. In fact, the only thing I liked about it was the shoes, which are these pretty, beachy Hermes Kristal sandals.

Likewise with Sweet P’s outfit. Well, no, that’s not quite right. The outfit was boring (in fact, I liked her initial idea very much, but she scrapped it), and the shoes were fine, but a little bit blah with that boring dress. I wish she’d gone with something a little snazzier in a bright color, but instead she stuck with these Stuart Weitzman Bellisima thongs. I say *yawn,* Silvery sparkly *yawn.*

Let’s see what they all come up with for tomorrow’s new episode. I can’t wait!

Gucci.com 10% off Sale - Today Only

Posted by Shomore in Gucci Shoes, Pumps, Spot the Shoe on Sale

This Gucci deal was updated on our holiday coupon guide, but since it is so rare for a luxury brand to have a sale on virtually all their super spectacular inventory, I thought it deserved its own post.

On Tuesday, November 20, 2007 (today for all you in the east and midwest) , Gucci.com is have a special holiday shopping event. All purchases at Gucci.com will automatically receive a 10% discount at checkout (except for the UNICEF Holiday merchandise).

There are a ton of beautiful goodies on display, but there were a few that stood out for me. Keep in mind that I’m in the holiday mood and I’m still hunting for the perfect outfits to wear to the holiday parties that I’ll be attending.

Gucci Gold Kelly Pumps- This would really make the little black cocktail dress pop. I’m a fan of the gold knot at the top. Originally $560 but now on sale for $504.

If your holiday outfit is sparkling and you need a more basic shoe, I like these black Gucci pumps with swarovski crystal accents on the heel. I imagine they would be a closet staple for years to come and the crystals give the classic black pump instant, but still understated, glam. Originally $650; One sale for $585. There’s also a peeptoe version of this shoe in case you want to show off your perfect pedicure.

And since no outfit is complete without the perfect date and handbag/clutch, I’m in love with this feminine and radiant purple snakeskin clutch with mink tassels and swarovski crystals. Original price is $1280 but it is not on sale for $1152.

If the color isn’t to your liking but the style is, a gold version is available for a sale price of $805.5.

It’s Saturday and that usually means the kick-off of some awesome sales around the Internets. I strongly suggest you check out the Bluefly sale, Sat.-Mon., which will give you an extra 15% off merchandise already on sale. I’ve picked just a few examples, but trust me, there is a lot more and I’d do some browsing in the lazy days of the afternoon if I were you.

So, here are some shoes that caught my eye:

Delman silver or gold flats, $76.50 (down from $255–that’s 70% off!)

Delicious Kate Spade purple velour slingbacks, now $81 (down from $295–that’s 73% off!):

Stuart Weitzman work-approved, yet delightfully stylish and cute lime green loafers, now $85 (down from$250–that’s 66% off!)

Slimmifying Delman tall stretch boots, fit for any calves, and now for any budget–$93.50, down from $310, that’s 70% off!

Designers are well-represented, so here’s your chance at owning some labels that might otherwise be out of reach–they’re usually about 50% off, sometimes more. I think these Prada camel leopard print pony hair pumps, $354, down from $695, are simply fab:

And so are these Gucci red sparkle patent buckle flats, $216, down from $425:

The sale lasts till Monday, and alas, sizes are quite limited–so if I were you, I would hurry.

Happy bargain shopping, shoe lovers!

Spring 2008 Milan Fashion Week: Revenge of Milan Fashion Week

Posted by jitterbugbaby in Fashion Week, Gucci Shoes, High heels, Platforms, Roberto Cavalli Shoes, Wedges

The standout shoe creations continue in Milan. Again, I offer up prayers of thanks to the fashion gods (who would that be? Coco Chanel? Marie Antoinette? Oleg Cassini?) that the Italian shows are providing truly unique footwear for our amusement.

This multi-material geometric sky-high wedge showed up at both Alberta Ferretti (in a design I quite like)

Alberta Ferretti

and Roberto Cavalli (in a design I both love–that little metallic accent on the back of the heel and the buckle–and HATE–all the rest of the shoe).

Roberto Cavalli Roberto Cavalli

Maurizio Pecoraro kept alive the gimp-enhanced shoe style that we saw yesterday from Alessandro dell’Acqua.

And Gucci brought a new color into play: bubblegum pink.

But also this shoe, which, taken out of the context of runway fashion, looks like something you’d order out of a hobble fetishist catalogue. That heel must be 6 inches high. Ouch!

Keep the interesting shoes coming, Italy!
