Combat Manolos?

Posted by Shomore in Manolo Blahnik Shoes

Ever wondered what would happen if Manolo Blahnik designed a shoe line for the Army?  Here’s your answer - heels with military camouflage prints.  You would still look stylish but I doubt you would blend into your surroundings very effectively.

Manolo Blahnik Golden Leaf thongs

Posted by shoesense in Manolo Blahnik Shoes, Sandals

Summer’s not kidding around: it’s already 90 degrees out here, and counting. Everybody talks about the shore, barbecues, or swimming pools. Frocks have gone strapless or hanging perilously onto the thinnest of spaghetti straps, and big black shades are sported liberally.

In this case, in an ideal world, your footwear should look something like this:

Blahnik gold leaf

These Manolo Blahnik gold leaf flat thongs are sheer delight–pretty, feminine, sophisticated yet casual and comfortable. It’s like your personal golden laurel wreath for your feet! Wear them with something white and gauzy, or something turquoise, or really, with anything. $595 at Neiman Marcus.

Now, these are some Manolos I can live in. The itsy-bitsy kitten heel ‘Madawi’ slide sports a gold-tone horseshoe detail on the strappy upper–and we all know that’s good luck! Available in dark brown or tan leather for $545 at Neiman’s .

shoes for the oscars

It’s almost that time. Oscar time, that is.

The 79th Annual Academy Awards are on this Sunday night, and you know there will be fashion statements galore: the good, the bad, and the really ugly.

What unfortunately gets covered up by long dresses too often are THE SHOES!

Who could forget Stuart Weitzman’s opulent creations for the past few years:

2004 Stuart Weitzman Oscar shoes

2004

2005

Can’t wait to see what he comes up with for this year.

And here’s a shot from the New York Times slideshow of Oscar swag. The goodie bags are scaled back this year (because celebs have to pay taxes on any gifts they receive), but there are places all around LA offering plenty of treats. Like Haven, which is offering shoes by Jour Nuit (retail $300-1,000) like these:

In the meantime, I’ll just have to sit here and fantasize that instead of watching the Oscars on TV at home, I’ll be there all dolled up to the max. Fodder for my fantasy? How about these lovely examples of high-glam evening footwear?

The Christian Louboutin Tenue or Josephine

Or these jeweled numbers by Manolo Blahnik at Neiman Marcus.

Or either of these blinged out Giuseppe Zanotti stunners

And finally, these sun motif sandals by Roberto Cavalli, who’s always good for some over-the-top va va voom style. And if you’re really in the market for some high glam evening shoes, these are currently 49% off at Zappos , and you can pick them up for a still-not-insignificant $511. But only if you wear a size 6, since that’s all they’ve got left.

So if you’re watching the Oscars on Sunday night, keep an eye out for the shoes, and just imagine all the glamorous shoes you won’t see under all those long gowns and their trains.

Unleash that animal in you

Posted by shoesense in Boots, Dolce & Gabbana Shoes, Flats, Lambertson Truex Shoes, Manolo Blahnik Shoes, Shoe Trends

Hi there! Hope you’re all enjoying your holiday sales. I know I am (hint: if the sale assistants at Banana Republic know you by your first name, that’s probably a sign you spend way too much time–and money–in that store). Ahem. But were was I? Oh, I know. My renewed obsession with animal prints.

It all started innocently enough with my routine browsing of the Neiman Marcus online collection (there’s no Neiman in the vicinity of Philly, so yep, I have to go online). And so it was that I discovered these faaahbulous Lambertson Truex tall leopard print suede boots and I started drooling with desire. I know they’re $645, thank you, but! gorgeous! sex-ay! sensible heel! Can you imagine yourself slinking through the urban jungle in these? Well, I can, and it’s an image I’m very fond of.

It kinda went downhill from there, as I discovered these Dolce & Gabbana zebra print loafers, and my heart started pumping dangerously fast:

So by the time I stumbled across these cream zebra print Manolo Blahnik flats, I would have sold my soul to the devil for one of these pairs. Ok, maybe not ‘eternal damnation’ sold, but perhaps in a ‘work for Anna Wintour for a month’ way.

I do have in fact a pair of sensible Donald J. Pliner leopard print loafers with black leather trim and red sole  (these), but somehow they don’t feel either glamorous nor over-the-top, like I feel right now. I feel a shopping spree coming up….
