You’re Such a Heel Part 2

Posted by Shomore in Prada & MiuMiu Shoes, Shoe Trends

If you required more proof that the decorated heels trend is here, then I would like to present you with sheer eye candy.

YSL Monaco $860

Christian Dior Jeweled Feather Slingback with Crystal Heel. The next time I watch a rerun of Dr. Zivago, I’ll think of this feathery pump.

Of all the brands that have decorated their heels, I have to say that none has as comprehensive and stunning collection as those seen on Miuccia’s Prada and Miu Miu shoes.

Prada Platform Pump with Girly Flower Crystal Detail

Prada Pump Decorated with Swarovski crystals $750 at Saks

Miu Miu Floral Pump - Seriously, I love the detailed wood craving. $550 at NetAPorter

Miu Miu Beweled Strappy Sandal $790 at NetAPorter

You’re such a heel

Posted by Shomore in Dior Shoes, Prada & MiuMiu Shoes, Shoe Trends

Remember the Fendi chain heel?  Heels with flair, as seen on the spring 2008 runway, are finally hitting the stores.  Here are some of my favorites shoes from the decorated heel category.

Even though the heel is 4.5 inches, this laced up heel looks more comfortable than the undergarment.   It’s feminine but sexy at the same time. The Alexander Neels Corset Heel is available at Saks for $650

Everything smells like roses with these Prada floral heels; Available at Neiman Marcus for $590

One of our readers thought this Dior Orbed Heel reminded her of a giant thumb tack.  At $1,030 (at Saks), it certainly is a beautiful but expensive tack.

Walk This Way at the MFA Boston

Posted by jitterbugbaby in Marc Jacobs Shoes, Prada & MiuMiu Shoes, Shoes at the Museum

Happy almost New Year, shoe lovers. I look forward to seeing what footwear everyone chooses posted over on the forums. There’s no better excuse all year for glitzy fun party shoes. In the meanwhile, I bring you my review of the Boston MFA’s exhibition of shoes, Walk This Way. We’ve mentioned this one in passing before, but I managed to go and see it with my own eyes last week. The show is still up until March 23, 2008, and I’d highly recommend catching it before it disappears. It’s made up of 28 pairs of shoes, mostly from the MFA’s collection. The genius of this show is that it’s not all up in one place. The shoes are scattered throughout the entire museum and all placed in context with the art around them. So, for example, these jeweled pointe shoes are installed next to Edgar Degas’ Little Fourteen-Year-Old Dancer.jeweled pointe shoe Degas dancerI think this is a great way to set up the show. Most of the shoes fit in perfectly with their chosen sites, and they certainly added a new level of interest to the various museum pieces paired with them. On top of that, the shoes really are scattered through the entire museum, so you get a chance to see a bit of everything in in the MFA collections if you hunt down all the shoes on the map provided. It’s like a little treasure hunt around the galleries, with shoes and art as a fun joint prize to be found.I was limited to camera phone pics, and not all of them came out well, but a selection from my visit is below the jump. I dream of (Shoe)-Genie

Posted by shoesense in Christian Louboutin Shoes, Manolo Blahnik Shoes, Prada & MiuMiu Shoes, UGG Shoes

Or is it Shoe-Santa? I can’t tell. But I would like to figure out a way to drop subtle hints to my significant other as to what my heart really wants this coming gift season.

So, should I leave my computer open for him to see these UGGs?

Hey, they’re practical, comfortable, and perfect for that vacation in Aspen I’ve been planning. The Ugg Rina Ribbon Boot is $225 at Neiman Marcus. Ok, I lied–I haven’t been planning a vacation in Aspen, but if I have these boots, I might!

Or maybe he’s going to figure out a certain designer is on my mind because of my numerous Freudian slips? (”Mmm, these pradines are delicious!”). And maybe this will come to mind:

Prada suede riding boots, just a tad under $1000 at Neiman’s.

Or maybe…I should keep complaining I got nothing festive to wear for when we go over to his parents for Christmas? Something nice and cute and…red? Like these unusually low Louboutins:

The Christian Louboutin “Tirelire” red patent ballerinas are $685 at Saks.

Or maybe I should just be upfront and say, “Honey, all I want for Christmas is a pair of Manolos?”

I’m sure he’ll understand!

How do you manage to drop those shoe-hints to your significant other?

It’s Saturday and that usually means the kick-off of some awesome sales around the Internets. I strongly suggest you check out the Bluefly sale, Sat.-Mon., which will give you an extra 15% off merchandise already on sale. I’ve picked just a few examples, but trust me, there is a lot more and I’d do some browsing in the lazy days of the afternoon if I were you.

So, here are some shoes that caught my eye:

Delman silver or gold flats, $76.50 (down from $255–that’s 70% off!)

Delicious Kate Spade purple velour slingbacks, now $81 (down from $295–that’s 73% off!):

Slimmifying Delman tall stretch boots, fit for any calves, and now for any budget–$93.50, down from $310, that’s 70% off!

Designers are well-represented, so here’s your chance at owning some labels that might otherwise be out of reach–they’re usually about 50% off, sometimes more. I think these Prada camel leopard print pony hair pumps, $354, down from $695, are simply fab:

And so are these Gucci red sparkle patent buckle flats, $216, down from $425:

The sale lasts till Monday, and alas, sizes are quite limited–so if I were you, I would hurry.

Happy bargain shopping, shoe lovers!
