There are some shoes that are the boiled-down essence of their particular look. That have become synonymous over the years with a whole variety of lifestyles.
You have your anti-establishment Doc Marten 1460’s (introduced in 1960).

Your once-athletic and now indie/alternative Converse All Stars (introduced in 1917).

There’s your ultimate in uptown ladylike chic, Repetto BB flats (introduced in 1956 and named for their intended client: Brigitte Bardot).

And your life-of-leisure Gommino driving moc by Tods (introduced in the 1970s).

See… a shoe can evoke an entire lifestyle.

I’ve never been a fan of butterflies and other insects pinned inside shadowboxes. However, after seeing these unusual feathery flats by Tod’s, I’m wondering if how my Gap flats would look with butterflies on the vamp.

It’s comforting sometimes to see a classic reinvented over and over–this way we get the chance to admire and wear a classic shoe Audrey Hepburn loved, like this Tod’s skimmer:

Patent upper with suede fringe and contour suede heel, suede piping, and padded insole, Tod’s Audrey with fringe skimmers are among those timeless pieces every stylish girl must possess in her wardrobe. It is $395 at eLuxury.

One of my favorite columns fom People Magazine is called I really love my…. The section focuses on a particular article of clothing or accessories that a celebrity wears over and over again and shows you how to get the look. To me, there must be something particularly special about the item in order for a celebrity, who seemingly has gads of money and designer freebies knocking down their doors, to favor the item and commit the faux paux of wearing the same thing more than once.
The first of Shoeblog’s shoe version of this column is brought to you by Jessica Alba, a disgustingly gorgeous actress who seems to have escaped the Hollywood rehab circuit unlike some other young starlets.
Here is Jessica Alba in different outfits wearing the same ballerina flats and what looks like a bright blue Chanel purse out and about.
