The Perfect Black Pump
posted by: HerberWellss in General, In Your Closet, Pumps, Stuart Weitzman Shoes
Finding the perfect black pump is like finding the perfect black dress. Great in theory, but difficult in practice. My perfect black pump would have a 1/2 inch platform, smooth leather, a 3 inch heel, an almond toe and, at most, a $200-300 price tag. I don’t want any annoying spikes or studs. I have had my fill of them. Enough is enough. Christian Louboutin has a great basic pump, as does Gucci and Valentino but those are simply out of my price range.
These Platswoons by Stuart Weitzman are gorgeous, I own them in Red Quasar. They are a little high in the heel at 4 inches but a 1/2 inch platform makes it 3.5 and at $300 they are a little high in my price range. In truth, I have these in my shopping cart. I may end up purchasing them later on this month. We’ll see.

The Charles David Piza on sale at $175 are a good choice, but they don’t have the platform needed for stability AND much time in a 4 inch heel is paralyzing.
Some of our readers have posted their shoes and it is wonderful to see what shapes you are attracted to.
So tell, what do your perfect black pumps look like?
In Your Closet: AEJ

More evidence that our readers really do love shoes comes to us today in the form of this closet submission from reader AEJ.
As she notes,
I had to move my shoes to our foyer closet, but I’m starting to get afraid that the weight of those hanging shoe-shelves is going to bring down the rack! My collection is very modest right now but that’s because I’m just starting. Give me time… Give me time…
The only commonality I have seen among the various closet photos our readers send us is that the shoes are most often purchased for the basic love of them… After which, we then are all left to devise storage solutions for homes and apartments that are rarely designed to accommodate our particular obsession and its attendant space needs.
Which brings me to the following, updated, photo that I received from AEJ after I sent her a short note to let her know I was writing about her closet this week.
Well, I’m ashamed (or proud?) to admit that my closet has changed a lot since July.
Here’s a more recent pic.
*With apologies to AEJ that her email was temporarily overlooked in my badly over-filled inbox….It seems that you do, indeed, find gold among the dross, as it were.
As always, if any of our readers would like to share their closets on the main blog page, please send an email with (PG please) photos to galligator@shoeblog.com. Otherwise, you can always post shoe-closet or other shoe-related photos on our more informal forum pages.

….. I hope you enjoy the pics and keep up the fabulous blogging!” – Amanda
Hi, Amanda.
It’s always nice to hear kind words from an appreciative reader. Thank you for allowing us to peek into your closet.
Now, speaking to your fellow readers, it’s fashion-voyeur time.
