Sundance Style: The Catalog

Posted by fancyfeet in Boots, Flats, General, I really love my shoe, Sandals

Now that the 2010 Sundance Film Festival has ended and I’m back home, everyone asks me if I saw Robert Redford. I did indeed! Each year he surprises me with his style. Last year, he wore a beret to the opening day press conference and this year he wore a western-inspired ensemble. And that hair! Oh my!

At some point during the festival, I picked up a Sundance catalog. The outfit on the front cover (peasant blouse, cardigan, and skinny jeans tucked into low boots) intrigued me, and the catalog is actually rather awesome! In addition to clothes, jewelry, and furniture, Sundance sells some great shoes!

Here are some of my favorites courtesy of Mr. Redford:

These are the boots that I loved on the cover of the catalog. Shay boot for $148.

I’m always looking for new ballet flats and I love how fun the big bow is on this pair. Bella Ballerina flats for $128.

I am dreaming of a summer spent on the beach and am loving gold sandals right now! I think I’m going to buy these shoes! Cassandra sandals for $128.

These suede sandals are so cute and high! Angelique sandals for $98.

Sundance Style: My Favorite Shoe Store in Park City

Posted by fancyfeet in Frye Shoes, General, I really love my shoe, Jeffrey Campbell, Shoe Stores

Every year at Sundance I see celebrities in the cutest footwear and feel inspired to buy new shoes! I stay at a hotel on Main Street, and therefore walk by Mary Jane’s (613 Main Street, Park City, Utah 84060) every day! I can’t help but look in the windows and admire the shoes. Mary Jane’s a great selection of shoes and a lovely staff to match! This always leads to buying at least one pair of shoes before the film festival ends!I just found out that the store has a website! I have not ordered anything online (yet!), but it’s a nice alternative if you can’t make it to Park City.

Here are a few of my favorite shoes currently at Mary Jane’s:

Frye Maxine Shortie for $285 at Mary Jane’s (or $287.95 at Endless and $298 at Zappos)

Pink Studio Allyson Flat for $79 at Mary Jane’s

Jeffrey Campbell Pepper Booty for $155 at Mary Jane’s

Sundance Boots: Trudging Through the Snow

Posted by fancyfeet in General, I really love my shoe

My first night in Park City, Utah I decided that I had to buy new snow boots to survive the Sundance Film Festival. It was snowing and I realized that none of the shoes I brought were going to keep my feet warm and dry. I walked up and down Main Street checking out a few different stores, but most didn’t have a large selection of snow boots. This is surprising being that it is January in a city known for skiing.

Finally, I found the Baffin store and within 15 minutes walked out with a new pair of boots.

My impulse purchase was influenced by the brand’s use of the word “extreme” – as in extreme weather – and pictures of people in the arctic wearing the boots.

On the walk back to my hotel, I saw this pair of Gravis boots, and I immediately regretted buying the less attractive Baffin boots.

But after three days of wearing the boots for 16+ hours a day, I could not be happier with the Baffin boots! Granted, they aren’t as cute as the Gravis boots, but they are the most functional snow boots I could have imagined. The black is rather nondescript anyway. While other people walk around the snow, slush, and puddles, I walk right through everything in my path. My feet are always dry and incredibly warm. The boots are very comfortable too. The only shortcoming is the weight of each boot – they are rather heavy.

The best part is that I feel very surefooted when walking on icy street. My two Sundance goals were to see James Franco (done) and to not fall and break a bone. I feel that the Baffin boots were integral to the latter, but I did wish I was wearing cuter boots when I saw James Franco!

2010 Sundance Film Festival: Boots

Posted by fancyfeet in Cole Haan Shoes, Frye Shoes, General, I really love my shoe

Today marks the first day of the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. This is my third year attending the festival, and I’m so excited!

I’m already in Utah and it’s very cold! Solid boots are a must! And yet, every year I see groups of girls walking through the snow in heels with bare legs. They might look good, but aren’t they cold?

In anticipation of traipsing through the snow, I did a roundup of my favorite boots!

This high black Cole Haan boot is a classic choice! The low heel makes it ideal for walking in the snow, and it’s dressy enough to wear to parties.

Cole Haan Air Lyric Tall boot regularly $327.95 and on sale for $204.20 at Zappos.

I love Frye boots so I just had to include a pair. The Melissa Button boot is such classic styling matched with sturdy construction.

The affordable Tretorn Skerry Vinter boot is cute (especially and yellow)! I like how it’s a lined rain boot. Your feet would stay warm and dry.

And finally, the flashiest and warmest boot I could find: the Sorel Joan of Arctic boot. Yes, it’s a little over the top snow bunny, but just think of how warm your feet would be!

The Newest Shoe Lover in Town

Posted by fancyfeet in Delman Shoes, I really love my shoe

Hello Shoe Lovers!

I’m FancyFeet, the newest shoe lover in town! I dream of a life spent in heels, the higher the better. But due to terrible balance and a life that requires walking everywhere, this height remains a luxurious pipedream.

Being resigned to flats on all but the most special occasions, I have become a lover of the ballet flat. Delmans are a current favorite. The shoes are well-made and classic! The Cruise-C is so cute and available in a number of colors. I love the quilting and copper accents!

I work from home, and most days you can find me in Toms flats. While the corduroy styles I favor are not currently available, Toms sells so many other styles that keep getting better every season. The fact the Toms gives a shoe to a child in need for every shoe purchased makes me want to buy every pair available.

I’m totally liking the Barletta Cordones. Wool shoes just seem so cozy this time of year!

For about seven years I have been looking for the perfect boot! I have settled for lesser varieties, but always been disappointed. My ideal boot does not have a zipper, can be worn with tights or jeans, and has a reasonable heel. This is, apparently, an almost impossible wish list. On Black Friday, I walked into a department store and immediately spotted Coach’s Fayth boot in gray (I could only find black online). After trying the boots on (a perfect fit!), I had to have them! If these boots were a man, I would marry him on the spot!

As a regular reader of Shoe Blog, I’m so excited to join the team! I’m looking forward to sharing my favorite shoes, sales, and stores with everyone! It’s also a great excuse to buy more shoes!
