A Shoe Plea

Ok folks, in the midst of fashion week madness (we’re off to Paris next) I am going to interrupt with a personal plea for a little help in the shoe department.

This is the KORS by Michael Kors Brink Boot:

Michael Kors Brink

They are available in very limited sizes on bluefly.com in black and brown for $237 or 6pm for $195, a significant reduction from their original price of $395. These are my ideal winter boots. I absolutely love them and want to take them home with me and call them my very own. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find them in my size. They are actually from last year’s line of winter boots a la Lady Kors, so they are not easy to track down and a 9 or 9.5 has been completely unfindable.

So here is my plea: if you find them online or are in the greater NY area or even the greater San Francisco area (I’ll be there at the beginning of October) and your eagle eye spots these in black in a 9 or a 9.5, TELL ME! I know you shoe-lovers have a lot of secret hunting grounds that the average person does not know about. I am counting on you! (P.S. these boots run small, so if you do decide to pick up the remaining ones on Bluefly, be aware.)

If this post has given you an unsatisfied longing similar to mine, here is this year’s version of the boot, the Breck, also KORS by Michael Kors:

Michael Kors Breck Boots

These are widely available at $425 (and unfortunately not on sale yet) in black leather, brown leather, and black patent. These are definitely awesome boots and would probably much more practical for the New York winter, but I never was a particularly practical girl.

Thanks in advance loyal shoeblog readers!

Carrie Bradshaw: I really love my Dior Extreme Gladiator Platform Shoes Part 2

Posted by Shomore in Celebrity Shoe Style, Christian Dior Shoes, I really love my shoe

Warning: This post contains photos from the upcoming Sex in the City Movie.

Remember how we mentioned that Patricia Field, the costume designer for SATC, really loves Dior’s Extreme shoes? Well, here’s further proof:

Exhibit A: In a (dream?) sequence in the SATC movie, Carrie is pairing her Vivienne Westwood wedding dress with champagne colored Dior Extremes. I’ve seen many styles of shoes on brides, but gladiator platforms would be a first.

Exhibit B: At a SATC premiere, Patricia Field (right) with Vivienne Westwood (left) was also seen in those black Diors.

Carrie Bradshaw: I really love my Dior Extreme Gladiator Platform Shoes

Or should I say Patricia Field, the costume designer for SATC, really loves Dior’s Extreme shoes since she’s the one that dressed the character Carrie Bradshaw?

ET Online reported that Sarah Jessica Parker went through 81 wardrobe changes for the SATC movie. If you count the 4 shots below, Sarah Jessica Parker wore the Dior shoes a whopping 5% of the time so I would say this falls in the ‘I really love my shoes’ category for this blog. According to Marene Gustin from ShoeTube everyone is also in love with the peeptoe Dior Extreme gladiator platforms. When she called the local Dior boutique, she got a response of

“Yeah, you’re like the 1,900th person to call about those. They don’t make them anymore and not even the outlets have them.”

Ouch. Luckily, for you fashionistas out there, we’ve spotted the line for you. The Dior Extremes are now available in select sizes at Eluxury for $770. I’m seriously thinking of getting a pair if only to collect them and help me reminiscent about SATC. For those on a more shoestring budget, the knock off pair can be found at ASOS for £55.00. I suspect both Eluxury and ASOS will be out of stock soon.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s: I really love my Givenchy Gladiators

Posted by shoesense in Celebrity Shoe Style, Givenchy Shoes, I really love my shoe

I don’t know if she REALLY REALLY loves them, but how else would you explain her wearing them on two occasions with starkly different results?

Here she is in London, looking chic and appropriate for some event involving British royalty, and giving her outfit a bit of an edge with the über-buckled-strapped-and-grommetted Givenchy gladiator bootie-sandals (sandies? boondals?):

(See Shoebunny’s website for more detailed photos).

And then, disaster strikes: a dowdy dress that does nothing for her lovely figure with an oddly hanging bow, and the gladi-bootie-sandals, cutting into the pale flesh of her stems and making her look like she’s an unwilling participant in bondage:

You can buy a similar (though not identical) style of Givenchy gladiator at Shopbop for, oh, about $1000:

…Just promise me you’ll learn from Gwyneth’s mistake and you’ll wear them wisely!

Cate Blanchett: I Really Love My Nude Louboutins

Posted by jitterbugbaby in Celebrity Shoe Style, Christian Louboutin Shoes, I really love my shoe

There’s no doubt about it. Cate Blanchett is one of the most stylish women out there. She pushes the envelope just a bit, but almost never too far. She always ends up looking unique and 99.99% of the time, completely gorgeous. At last weekend’s Oscars, she made my Best Dressed list regardless of pregnancy.

But just like you and me, she has her favorite shoes, and since she’s fabulous and chic, the shoes are fabulous and chic, too. Louboutins, to be exact (note the excellent silver pair in the above photo, which, now that I’m thinking about it, might take over the Shoeblog Oscar for Best Louboutin that I previously bestowed on Renee Zellweger). Nude Louboutins, to be even more precise.

This patent pair seems to be her #1 go-to choice. Here she is in them at the December 2007 Hollywood premiere of the Good German and at the January 2007 Palm Springs Film Festival.

But there were also these ladylike pleated chiffon peep-toes at the the AFI Awards in Melbourne in December 2006.

And these sexy pumps at the Women in Hollywood gala in September 2006.

Cheers, Cate, on some gorgeous shoe choices. And for the next nude Louboutin, might I suggest these sequin-covered numbers, currently available at Neiman’s for $995. Wouldn’t they look so swanky on a red carpet with a no-doubt fantastic outfit?
