For those of our readers living north of the border, here’s a quick nod to July 1,  Canada Day  … and appropriate footwear to go with the occasion:

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

DSquared2 A004 at Zappos $669 $468.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day Folks!

Are you wearing your green today? I certainly wouldn’t want to see anybody getting pinched. And why is it that this is one habit that most so-called adults that I’ve known have never outgrown?  There really are few things less dignified than adults being gleefully pinched by coworkers. Oh well ….

I’m wearing my green …. My kids made certain of that. My outfit today is primarily courtesy of my four-year old son’s foray into my closet this morning. Given that knowledge, it is not nearly as cartoonish an ensemble as one might imagine.

So, in the theme of green, here are a few earthy-green shoes for your consideration:

Boots:

French Connection ‘Holly’ $146.25 $298 at 6pm.com

Booties:

Dolce Vita ‘5173-18′ $88.92 $167 at 6pm.com

Low Sandals:

Everybody by BZ Moda ‘Opal’ in Avocado $179.95 at Endless.com

And Heels:

Exchange by Charles David ‘Web’ $52.65 $99 at 6pm.com

Heels:

Kors by Michael Kors ‘Talulah’ $249 at Zappos.com

And more Heels:

Pour La Victoire ‘Pascale’ $319.99 at Heels.com

As for me, I am wearing my patiently stalked Pour La Victoire ‘Penelope’ oxfords - which I picked up on clearance at Amazon last Fall:

How about you? How do you show your holiday green?

Prada Floral Stiletto Knock-offs

Posted by galligator in Designer Shoe Déja Vu, High heels, Hot Shoe Deals and Steals, Platforms, Prada & MiuMiu Shoes, Pumps, Sandals, Shoes.com, Spot the Shoe on Sale, Spring 2008 shoes

I’m fairly confident that I’m not the only gal who fell in love with these Prada shoes last year:

Prada Shoes

So breathtakingly gorgeous!

These Prada lovelies retailed for $590 last spring. If you were lucky, you were able to find them on clearance in your size for about $300. Long since sold out everywhere (except for a few pricey pairs that surface occasionally on ebay), you now have a chance to own an ‘inspired’ near-duplicate knockoff made by Pelle Moda:

Pelle Moda ‘Holly’ $101.50 $145 at Shoes.com

If these babies are still too rich for the budget-conscious, there is yet another lower-end alternative via the Newport News website.

Newport News Patent Pump with Floral Detail $49 $39

This one is not nearly as successful as either the original or the Pelle Moda copy. But, it will fit in most budgets. I actually wouldn’t mind the purple color variation, but I am horribly distracted by the excessive plastic-entombed glitter of this molded heel. These would have been much better off had somebody (anybody!) resisted the urge to pick up the glitter stick.

Christian Louboutin’s Short Tina Fringe Sandals

Posted by galligator in Christian Louboutin Shoes, High heels, Platforms, Pumps, Sandals, Spring 2008 shoes, Walking Disasters

I can’t help noticing (mainly due to their near-ubiquitous inclusion at just about every shoe retailer) that fringed shoes, boots, and sandals are still holding strong as a fashion trend. This particular footwear trend has had more strength than I might have expected - or hoped for. However, having experienced the fringed-shoe trend at least once before, I find myself even less likely to embrace it this second time around than I was back in the days when MTV still played videos.

So, I still can’t see myself indulging in this particular trend; not even when Mr. Louboutin is playing in the fringe arena. Maybe there is a particular age-range and geographic area where one can most successfully carry off the whole fringe look … Methinks my particular chunk of Small-town America doesn’t really fit the bill. Plus, there’s that fine line with fringe that can quickly turn from playful to outright stripper-licious.

As for today’s ‘Fringe-tastic’ footwear; take a look at this Louboutin offering worthy of any Solid Gold dancer:

Wait. You don’t know or remember Solid Gold?

Here, watch these videos:

Now, time for the shoes:

Christian Louboutin Short Tina Fringe Sandals $1095

So, is it difficult to understand why I can’t look at these without hearing the Solid Gold theme song?

How about the rest of you?
