Gwyneth Paltrow 2011 Oscars Shoes
posted by: Shomore in Celebrity Shoe Style, Shoes on the Red Carpet
In years past, I haven’t really been a fan of Gwyneth Paltrow’s Oscar carpet style. Her pink Shakespeare in Love dress and that white slip dress just did nothing for her frame, but this year she struck gold in this sleek Calvin Klein dress with matching Brian Atwood ‘Martina’ gold platforms. Tell me, did you like her red carpet look?
Natalie Portman – Oscars 2011 Red Carpet Shoes

At the 2011 Oscars, Natalie Portman glowed in a Rodarte gown. The color and shape of the dress suit her so well! Natalie’s footwear choice typically lies towards Stella McCartney, a fellow vegan, or lately Dior, who she is a recent spokeswoman for, but instead she opted for the beautiful Jimmy Choo Macys sandal.
Sarah Jessica Parker’s SATC Promo Shoes

Sarah Jessica Parker has been promoting Sex and the City 2 this week. She was on the Early Show a couple of days ago wearing a raspberry colored dress with Alexander McQueen sandals.
Hers are bronze, there is a pair available at Nieman Marcus that is titled Oil. Love the color.
Alexander McQueen Oil Backzip sandals $925
Then during the New York Premier she wore a Valentino Couture dress. This collection wasn’t a hit with the critics, but on the red carpet, the dresses are beautiful. I think it will prove to be a popular collection. I have seen dresses from this collection twice so far.
Anyways, Sarah Jessica Parker wore silver gray Ferragamo double platform pumps. Overall, critics think the pumps were too clunky for the light silk dress. I am a little tired of this style of pump, especially double and triple platforms which get into tranny territory with their 6 inch heels. I am surprised SJP didn’t wear a strappy sandal.
I am more than a little surprised she wore these because we have seen Jennifer Lopez, twice, Kate Beckinsale, and Michelle Williams wear these shoes all last month. As one who is known for being first in fashion I thought she would have gone with something never worn on the red carpet before. There was an issue a couple of years ago about a dress that had been worn on the red carpet before. Her stylist should have paid more attention. I couldn’t find an online source for these shoes.
Then for the after party dress SJP went with an Madonna-ish Elie Saab and Kicholas Kirkwood shoes.
She also wore them last night to the Letterman Show. I like them with the second outfit over the Elie Saab dress.
These shoes are available through Browns Fashions £665.00 .
I couldn’t locate an US outlet, but I didn’t spend a lot of time searching.
As she spends more and more time promoting the movie, it will be interesting to see what SJP wears.
Cary Mulligan’s Style

So I have been idly watching Carey Mulligan, the twenty five year old British actress, because she seems to have a great sense of style. (Her stylist is Tiina Laakkonen who has a good artistic eye.) She seems to like Prada and Lanvin, but has been seen wearing other designers too. I went back a few months to show you what she has been wearing. She is a tiny, tiny girl, so she has to watch that her clothes don’t overpower her. I think she has done that.
August 2009. At the September Issue Premier in New York wearing watercolor floral Thakoon dress and Prada (I think) shoes.
October 2009 wearing a gladiator-ish studded dress from the Prada Fall 2009 with Prada sandals. I love the red lips.
August 2010. At the MOCA 30th Anniversary Gala wearing Prada from the Spring 2010 line, shoes fron the same collection. These shoes have that clear Lucite heel. This is probably the most amazing skirt around.
February 2010 at the BAFTAs in Vionnet dress, YSL shoes. This is the second Vionnet dress Carey has worn. She wore a gorgeous red dress and nude Vionnet pumps on October 2009 for the premier of An Education in London. Galligator told us abut this design house a few months ago.

Apparently Anna Wintour has taken a liking to Carey. The story Carey tells is that, ”Anna said I should wear short for the Oscars. I was like, ‘No that is so not what I had in my head when I was six years old!’
For the Oscars, she went long, even with a train. (I guess not everyone does what Ms. Wintour says.) She wore a Prada dress with Prada sandals. The dress got mixed reviews. I think she looked great.
This is what she wears on her day off. This photo was taken the day after the Oscars. Trapeze smock, brown jersey pants and black ballet shoes. Just the right outfit for Los Angeles.
It will be fun to what she and Tiina decide for the Costume Institute Gala and Cannes. It will undoubtably be beautiful.
