I love checking out the new fashions and shoe styles that appear on the various runways during so-called fashion week (which is what, at least a month long now as it moves from city to city?). One of the things that is both exciting and frustrating to me is seeing which items, and in what final variations, finally make it into the land of retail (and since I live 3-5 hours away from any major metro centers, online retailers in particular).
These ankle boots from Givenchy’s spring 2010 couture runway intrigue me. (more…)
Camilla Skovgaard London Lace-up Oxford Ankle Boot

I am intrigued by the Camilla Skovgaard London A9007 ankle boot with the wrap-around ankle detail.
At first glance, they reminded me of the Balenciaga 2006 harness boots that were so popular (thanks in large part to Mary Kate Olson) – which spawned the wildly popular Sam Edelman ‘Zoe’ – a silhouette that has become a staple for that shoe brand, including a recent, studded variation.
Happy Birthday Robert Clergerie

Robert Clergerie turns 76 today. Born in Paris in 1934, he started as a manager in the Charles Jourdan factory in the 1970s, then worked his way up to designer. His first women’s line debuted in 1981 with a pair of menswear oxfords. He later designed pumps with parallelogram heels that were copied enough that the shape was referred to as the Clergerie heel. He then introduced a steel high heel which is thought to be the pioneer of the spike heel. The factory is still in France and Mr. Clergerie is still in France.
Until working on this post, I had never really paid attention to Clergerie shoes. Now, I am quite intrigued with them. (more…)
Givenchy Vs. Jeffrey Campbell

So, I’m sitting here, sipping a home-brewed mocha with a sprained ankle. It seemed a perfect opportunity to do a quick shoe-showdown. What else would I expect do with sudden, unexpected, bed rest?
These Givenchy wedges were seen last fall on the SS2010 runway and were available for purchase as of late March of this year. Jeffrey Campbell’s ‘Tick’ wedges beat Givenchy’s runway wedges to the retail scene by almost six months. So, are they a crazy, rushed, runway-inspired copy? Or did several designers get mad deals on similar, psychedelic, tribal fabric?
Yes, these are the things I wonder about at 10pm when most people are either tucked into bed or out on the town. I’m not sure what, if anything, that says about me…hmm..Anyway, I’d love to know which style is your favorite and why.
Givenchy Jersey print wedges $1550.70 at Luisaviaroma.
Jeffrey Campbell ‘Tick’ wedges $150 at Karmaloop.

Hi there- if you guys could possibly help ID these shoes, I would greatly appreciate it!!! I saw these amazing platform boots on the Bergdorf website- a model is wearing the shoes in the Haider Ackermann Bonded Leather Leggings posting but I can’t find the shoes anywhere on the site. The shoes can be found here.
Thank-you!Best,
T
Hi T!
It took a little bit of research, but I’m pretty sure I’ve found your mystery boots (shown in the center column between the two original model shots that started this shoe hunt).
