Comfort and style
Posted on March 24th, 2007 by shoesense under Flats, Shoe Trends…two words that make beautiful music together!!! Really, is there anything more satisfying than that? The New York Times fashion columnists pick up on that trend below (and while I’m at it, let me frown upon the word ‘trend’ in this context. Patent leather, or oversized belts, or flared sleeves are ‘trends’ bound by historical and geographical limitations; comfort as well as style are timeless constants that transcend any trends). So behold Bill Cunningham’s collage of what women are wearing right now–a thing of beauty, no?
Though my favorite has got to be the horse with purple glitter hooves!

Speaking of comfort shoes, what’s the best, most comfortable, stylish show to wear touring Paris? Can you wear sandals in Paris

I’ve been hunting for the perfect pair of black flats. I recently purchased my first pair of Tory Burch Revas, but those don’t go with everything.

I’m afraid I haven’t been to Paris yet–I know, an outrage that will have to be corrected some time very soon!–so I can’t speak with authority. But I’m pretty sure you can wear sandals!!!
And Jen, I’d love for you to share your thoughts on the perfect black flats on the forums. That’s a worthwhile topic!

Shoegurl18, sandals are perfectly acceptable in Paris. I’d say for a walking visit to the city, wear something that gives you plenty of arch support and shock absorption. Sandal or closed shoe… whatever works best with your style and the clothes you’re going to bring. Sure, there are plenty of super-stylish shoes in Paris, but in general, in my experience, the French seem to go for fewer pieces of clothing and shoes, but choose the more classic styles. Hope that helps. And I can’t wait to hear about your travels when you get back.
