Comfortable Thongs on Flip Flops
Posted on June 22nd, 2009 by trainingheels under Jeffrey CampbellI so frequently don’t understand why beach shoes and summer flipflops have such uncomfortable thong parts. Even Havaianas, which are supposed to be so comfortable, bruise up the top of my foot. I want something that can maybe transition from shopping to the beach and vice versa, so I need to be able to wear it all day.
I was therefore thrilled to come upon a reasonably priced pair of fabric thong flip flops at Coup de Coeur in Fort Greene, designed by incredibly reasonable-in-general company Chinese Laundry. The style is the Diablo and is selling for $48.95 at Zappos.
Leather or terrycloth are also good options for the thong of the flipflops. Here’s one by Jeffrey Campbell for $39.00. Sure, that’s more than Havaianas, but they’ll probably be on your foot longer because the thong is more comfortable.
Got any suggestions for readers on flip flops with comfortable thongs that can take you from the beach to a casual dinner and shopping? Share them in the comments.

Hi
The most comfortable flip flops in the world are…..UGG flip flops! The thong bit is lined with sheepskin! I live in Jersey in the channel islands (its near france for all you americans) and it gets pretty hot, i can wear these all day long, to walk to work and back, walk my dog everything! I even wore them for two weeks solid in Dubai! they survived all the site seeing, not a blister or rub mark in site! They are suede so you can really get them wet but i had no issues with them on the beach! hope that helps

Those Chinese Laundry flip-flops are so hot. I think my wife would love to have those this summer.

Kenneth Cole Reaction makes some cute and comfortable thongs. And this is from someone who cannot stand the feeling of the thong between my toes. I was surprised by their comfort and good looks. Zappos offers a large selection, with several under $50.

Terry cloth! How ingenious. Will look for something similar in my city.

I’ve found flip flops here with jute straps sometimes and they are extremely comfortable. Quite inexpensive too…

I love my Reef flip flops! Especially the style “Sandy”. They mold to my foot so I can wear them all day long!

Jcrew has the most comfortable, and cute, flipflops! I own probably at least 10 pairs. I wear them all day even when walking far. They last for forever and are pretty cheap, about $25. I’ve never gotten a blister or been in any kind of pain. They are my go-to shoes.

I’ve seen some flip-flop styled Teva’s lately that are very feminine. However, here in western Massachusetts (and VT, NH), fashions are often more dressed-down (WAY DOWN) than in other parts of the country.
