Crocs, Really?
Posted on October 1st, 2008 by galligator under Boots, Fall 2008 Shoes, Focus on the Shoe Brand, High heelsI am not a Crocs fan. I have never owned a pair although I hear they are comfortable. They have been some of my kids favorite shoes. But, I simply can’t work myself past the visceral horror of putting something that looks this hideous onto my own feet. From what I have encountered online, I am not the only one. Heck, they make Birkenstocks look almost sexy in comparison …
Until now.
Have you seen these new Crocs, the ‘You by Crocs’ line?
Just take a look at these new options - from flats to ankle boots to lined tall boots for Fall. I’m guessing that ‘Crocs’ is not your first guess when seeing these; it certainly wasn’t mine.
This is a quantum leap in the Crocs universe. No, these are never going to be competing next to Giuseppi Zanotti on the runway, but for women with foot problems, it is yet another needed step toward integrating style with orthopedic comfort.
Styles run from about $60 for Spring sale items up to about $300 for boots. There are even individual websites set up both for the US and Europe. Hop on over & take a peek.
So, what do you think? Are Crocs finally growing up?

Okay, I feel just like you about the ugly crocs but hold on, what are these? Are you sure they’re crocs? I can wear these - I love the purple ankle boots!

These are awesome. I have a few friends that bought pairs and they walked around NY ALL DAY LONG without a single complaint. The said it was just as comfortable as a normal Croc - except not FUGLY!
Definitely check them out!

I’ve told my friends that I would walk barefoot on glass before wearing crocs. But the red pumps and purple boots are cute. Maybe crocs got the point that you don’t have to be ugly to be comfortable.

I want those brown boots at the bottom. Like now.

Sorry, no matter how cute those red pumps are I can’t support the company that brought us <> Crocs. That would be like going over to the Dark Side.

I have always been adamant in my hatred for all things Crocs…and I almost want some of these. I wonder how comfy they actually are..

I think those are kind of cute - however, I would never buy them because I would never want to give any of my money to the company responsible for the horror of traditional Crocs. They’ve assaulted my eyes for too long for me to be willing to forgive just because they’ve made some moderately attractive options.

Those are really Crocs? They are not ground breaking but a big big leap. Crocs must have learned that you don’t need to look fugly to be comfortable. I still think though that there better looking shoes that combine fashion and comfort.

They only go up to size 9.5? What about us sasquatch girls who wear 11?
