I think it is becoming pretty clear to everyone that I like boots. Flat boots, high heel boots, ankle length or knee length or higher – I don’t care. I truly believe there is a boot for every season, style, and invent. If I could get away with wearing boots at my wedding, I probably would. And I have to tell you, I love the way Christian Dior does boots. In fact, I love the way Christian Dior does pretty much everything, from pumps to flats to sandals to boots and everything in between. That includes the Dior Ribbon Boot ($960 at Neiman Marcus), which is elegant in its simplicity but still edgy enough to be completely cool.
The boot is also available in black, but I love this color is well. I don’t know if you’d consider it a dark shade of raspberry or a sort of plum or what, but I don’t care, it’s still a rich, gorgeous color that perfectly complements the soft suede material. Sometimes bows on boots and shoes can come off a little kitsch, but this one is perfect. It’s cute without being too cute, and actually provides a touch of innovation. So does the exquisite pick-stitching, which is highly artisan all the way.
The way the seams arc and curve creates a lot of sinuous and sensual lines, making the design as sexy as the sleek silhouette. The toe is rounded, and it actually hides a hidden platform, which measures out to about 1 and 1/8 inches. The heel tapers like a lethal weapon; not counting the platform, it is about 4 and ½ inches long.
What do you think about the color? Shades of purple and violet are in this winter for things like makeup and accessories, but do you think it works for shoes?
