Dolce and Gabbana Sequined Sandals
Posted on February 12th, 2009 by Shomore under Dolce & Gabbana Shoes, Walking DisastersThese Dolce & Gabbana sandals ($536 at Luisaviaroma) are my pick for for walking shoe disaster of the week. There are a lot of reasons to pick on this shoe - the over-the-top sequins, the large buckle at the ankle (I have fat ankles), etc. but it’s the arch , or lack thereof, of an arch support which bugs me the most about this sandal. Towering at 4.5 inches, this shoe is already going to tough to walk in, but without the support, it will be tortuous. I can’t even rationalize the lack of arch support because of aesthetics either. Surely Dolce & Gabbana could have added a thin gold sole without impairing the design aspects of the shoe.
What are you thoughts - am I overly rough on this shoe?
- Happy Easter!
- Shoes for those in need of orthotic foot support
- The Gold, the Cut, and the Beautiful
- To PVC or not to PVC?
- Mercedes Benz Fashion Week - Marc Jacobs and Rodarte shoes
- Ooops! I did it again

Wowza, is that one tacky looking shoe! You know it would look a whole lot better sans sequins. But then again, looking at that cutout is just painful to me.

DG should know better. Seriously, this shoe is a train wreck waiting to happen.

Oh No. My Eyes! My Eyes!
In general, I’m really not feeling the whole $300+ sequined shoe thing at all. Pretty much all of them look like they could have come from Target for $30. But, these are so far beyond awful it is amazing. As my hubby might say ‘eye-bleedingly bad’.
I just looked at them again. They actually make me physically cringe. Yikes.

I have one qustion to ask : what were they thinking? yes in a bad way, a very bad way . This gets a BIG NO vote from me

you are def NOT being too rough. they are positively hideous. It’s hard (more like sad) to imagine there’s people who are actually going to buy these shoes. They have NO taste. Def walking shoe disaster material. Maybe that will teach them something!

These are absolutely AWFUL!!! Too many sequins, too big buckle. Plus who in their right mind would wear a shoe w/o any arch support??

My hubby was actually intrigued by the architecture of this. Honestly, if they had made this in a subtle material (like leather or satin) so that the construction was the only focus of attention, it would have been a much more attractive shoe.

This shoe is an abomination. Makes me wonder if some designers aren’t just a teensy, weensy bit misogynistic, to be honest.

Wow, can you say gaudy? Plus, they look like they’d break your foot in half.

It looks so strange and painful like a torture device!

They may indeed just be a (not-so) cleverly disguised torture device. Maybe they tried to economize by leaving out part of the shoe?
Of course, someone out there is trying them on thinking, “I can totally make this work!”
…I wonder how long it will take that same woman to end up in the emergency room.
