Friday Shoe History Corner: Granny boots!
Posted on June 15th, 2007 by shoesense under Friday Shoe History Corner
According to the Shoe Icons Museum, these white kid high-button boots with bow on vamp (ca. 1870) belonged to a certain Miss Ridgley (inscription on the twill lining of the right shoe), who lived at 57 Stout, Nh 1 1/4. We don’t know what became of her, but the shoes–original granny boots!–are sure pretty, and I hope Miss Ridgley lived to enjoy them to a ripe old age.
