Friday Shoe History Corner: Martha Washington Wedding Shoe
Posted on March 16th, 2007 by Shomore under General, Shoe History CornerThis is my first post on The Shoe Blog so I thought it should start with another first.
Just the Right Shoe, who specializes in making historically correct shoe miniatures, has this replica modelled after shoes worn by the first lady of the United States. Martha Washington wore these purple silk pumps with silver embroidery on her wedding day in 1759. And I thought women only wore cream or white shoes to their wedding.
