Giuseppe Zanotti Glitter Mid-Heel Ankle Boot

They say that all that glitters is gold, but you know what? I’m not even that fond of gold. I’m a solid silver girl, so you can just imagine how I squealed over these Giuseppe Zanotti Glitter Mid-Heel Ankle Boots ($895 at Neiman Marcus). Sure, they sort of look like something Michael Jackson might have come up with back in his bejeweled glove heyday, and okay, I’m not exactly sure how often I would ever wear them, but I can’t help loving them all the same. They are just so bold. If you’re going to wear these boots out and about, even if it’s for a night out at a bar or club, it shows you’ve got serious courage and self-confidence.
The silhouette and style of these boots are the things that really do it for me. There’s something almost rugged about their design. The heel is pretty short at 2 and ½ inches, and it is stacked and tapered as well. Something about that is almost – but not quite – like a cowboy boot. Along each side, the boots feature leather piping. They have a crescent style toe and a zipper closure that runs the full length of the shaft.
Giuseppe Zanotti does beautifully with bold things. The ideas may be outlandish and over-the-top, but the execution is so exquisite that what could be campy just looks chic – even when it shouldn’t. Now, honestly, I do wonder when you could wear these. Out on the town, sure, but where else? What do you guys think? Would you ever wear boots like these? Where would they work?
